It's not nearly as bad as you think it will be.

*Get to the airport early to avoid last minute stress.
*Visit the TSA website to review what you can bring in your carry on bag --->http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#10
*If your checking your luggage make a colorful yarn pom pom or the like to make your bag easy to spot in the luggage pick up area.
*Bring something to occupy yourself: iPod, book,Magazines or a hand held video game. If you forget there is a gift shop in the airport with items.
*Dress neatly and for comfort. Leave off the perfume as you will be traveling in close quarters.
*Have something to eat and drink beforehand. Nowadays most airlines have cut back on meal service and will offer you little more than a bag of chips and a tiny drink. Flying can leave you feeling dry and thirsty so plan for that. You may consider bringing a non messy ,non smelly snack with you.Again Check the TSA website.
*Do not gab to the people around you ...likewise be leery of people that will want to talk your ear off for the entire flight .. Unless you enjoy that and if will help you to relax.

The take off and lift off are a little scary ( very little ) once your in the air the plane is very quiet and comfortable. You may hit a little air turbulence but mostly just smooth sailing.
The great thing about flying is that it opens a whole new world of quick travel to you! Remember it's MUCH safer than traveling in a car.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Take some mints/chewing gum for take-off/landing - you will regret it if you don't.

Chill - have a class of wine - take a book

and think of the holiday :D

don't be nervous!! Once you get up in the air, its a little scary at first, But you'll get used to it. It sometimes turns out to be fun. Well. Buy some magazines and stuff to keep you busy and you'll be fine!!

Flying ish great. Except 4 landing and taking flyt. Those make me dizzy. Otherwise, it's much better then riding in a car. If it's an international flyt, u'll have a little thing in front of u 2 play games and stuff on. Flying is pretty much smooth sailing....besides the bathroom (XD)

There isn't really much you can do, except look at real factual data. Because you will be nervous at the airport and while boarding the plane with the crew running around. But once you're in the air you'll be thinking I don't know why I was so worried, and at least now I know what to expect from the airport / flying situation. As for the nervousness, go to the website I have provided below.
