Ali G.

KLM or United Airways??

I will be taking a long flight from Germany to TN and then back. These are the two providers that I am debating with. I have read reviews and they both have bad and good.

Which one is better? I have only flown with Delta, Continental and air France in the past. Continental being my favorite. The arm rests lift up which is a big plus. I need room to move around because I am a bigger size female. My husband is 6'10 so he also needs the extra room.
I was not a fan of Air France at all. Small seats, bad food, hateful stewardess'/stewards.
My husband is a Delta fan.

So which airline is better?
KLM or United Airways?

Please include your experiences with the airline as well.
Thanks a load!

I've never gone with KLM, but I always fly United, and I like it. But United is a Star Alliance member while KLM is Skyteam. Most of your miles are also from Skyteam so you can use those. United is really great internationally, each seat has nine channels for each language, and music, and a map. You can order drinks and stuff whenever you want. But domestically, they make you pay for the food, the drink is still free, but i does depend on what class your flying in. For needing more room, at lease Economy plus, big bags should be put over because there's not much room below, but First and FirstBusinesss classes are much better, FirstBusinesss seats all roll out to be a bed, and you have the nine channels only on a tape so you can pause and fast forward and stuff, and is even able to have a desk.

But if you can, try and get on the new Boeing Fleet in Singapore airlines and FirstBusinesss class. It's amazing, your own rooms and showers, basically a flying hotel, even the economy seats are private with walls.

absolutely KLM, but why not Lufthansa?

Since you have flown with Delta, Continental and Air France, you probably have a frequent flier account since all these airlines are in the SkyTeam Alliance. KLM is also a member of SkyTeam. Therefore any miles you earn can be applied towards the elite status on your frequent flier account.

United is not the greatest domestically speaking but I am sure the airline's service is better when you fly internationally.

My vote is for KLM. I expect the service to be better.

United: Less food than KLM, Worse service than KLM, I believe smaller aircraft than KLM.

KLM is the smart choice, they serve more food, bigger seats, armrests, and the aircrafts are bigger and very likely have PTV screens, which I believe United has few aircrafts that do.

It's an easy choice for me, KLM.

Hi there!!It will really depend on the type of aircraft you are on for the amount of room you'll have.... but longer journeys usually have a fair bit of room.
But anyway KLM are good,- i've flown with them quite a bit and I think their service and food is pretty good!
I have never flown with united so i cant compare them but if you choose KLM, I do think you'll be happy

I vote KLM too. I had great experiences with them and liked them better than Continental.

i have been on united bt when ever i have a choice of airline from da us and a european one i would go with the european one most of da us airlines aren't to good except a few united is so-so but i would definitely go with KLM

good luck

If the question is restricted only between United or KLM, i would definitely vote for KLM.
excellent service, Good hospitality service both at check-in and in flight.
If possible try not to book economy but go for premium economy or business class, you get a much better leg room, wide-seats and unmatched comfort.
If the question is not restricted i would give my vote to Singapore airlines and emirates (depends upon route in which they operate)
