I hate flying over seas and it makes me go stir crazy. I have an awful time sitting still for that long and it's torturous. There aren't any great books or entertainment that can capture my attention for that long. The last few times I had to make a long trip like that I saw my Dr. and got sleeping pills. It was great. It was like not having to make the trip at all! I highly recommend it. (If you have never taken sedatives before I don't recommend taking them for the first time on a plane. Take them at home first so you know how you react to them,) Have a good trip!

I see someone suggested Benedryl. It does make most people drowsy but in some cases it can hype you up. Don't take that for the first time on a plane either! Try it at home first.

Try not to have any rest or sleep before your trip for some long hours. You will sure get asleep on board.

I am also heading to Africa next week and I've been thinking about the exact same thing. If you have a laptop and should definitely keep you busy - play games, watch a movie or listen to music. Would have been nice if you could connect to the internet up in the air (for free). Sleeping is also a good idea. It will make the time go by fast. I have traveled down there a few times now and it takes me about 24 hours. It gets very boring. It also helps if you have a friendly person sitting next to you to visit with.

I always take something that will knock me out. There is nothing better than some sleep to pass time on long, international flights.

My favorites include Dramamine (original). It will make you a little drowsy and will take away any motion sickness.

Also, I like Tylenol Simply Sleep. This will knock you right out. I took it leaving Paris and didn't wake up until it was almost time to land in New York a couple weeks ago.

(Obviously just take one or the other... I don't recommend mixing drugs).

Also, window seats are nice because you can rest your head against the window... but aisle seats are nice too because you can get up and stretch in the aisle as often as you'd like without disturbing your seatmate. Have a safe flight!

I went to London last year, I took crossword puzzels, wordsearches, and I took my favorite books which were the harry potter series, but whatever books you like to read. My plain had tv screens in them so we could watch movies too.
