Life or death? |
why dont airlines provide parashutes for travellers??? i dont really care what reason they have for not having them, but personally i would travel on a plane that has parashutes than on a plane that doesn't!!!! even if i had to pay extra!! lets face it,if ya in the sky and the plane is about too crash either on land or at sea, there is a very good chance you will not survive!!but with a shute, you will increase ya chances dramatically!!! i know you are more likely too crash ya car than a plane but if an when it does happen i personally would like too have a parashute with me!!! lol, what do you guys think?? |

You open the door to parachute out of a modern jet and you would be dead anyway. They fly too high and there is not enough air for you to survive a parachute jump. I would love to see this tried though. Will you volunteer? It really would be life or death. Most probably death! |

There are a number of reasons why the parachute thing will not work. If a plane is going down, the speed it is descending will not allow anyone a chance to strap on a parachute and jump out of an airplane. Second, where would they keep the parachutes? Having a parachute for each seat would increase the weight of the plane dramatically so the aircraft would either have to fly less passengers or take on less baggage/cargo to accommodate the parachutes.
Crash experts say that airplane crashes are survivable unless the plane literally explodes in the sky. Many people have walked away from airplane crashes. A parachute will not dramatically increase your chances of survival. |

There are few (if any) credible scenarios that would justify the provision of parashutes [sic] to passengers on commercial flights.
It isn't going to happen, nor should it happen. |

Everyone else's answers are right, but over and above them, hadn't you thought that if it was possible and if it could save lives, the airlines/authorities would have thought of this, and put it in place already? |

Now its not as simple as it sounds.... Even if they provide parachutes, it requires a fair bit of training on how to operate them..... its not just a rucksack which you flip onto ur self and jump into the sky and open and you have a safe landing.... and imagine the chaos it will produce... secondly the parachute must be opened at a certain altitude for it to take effect ... and also opening the door will rather aggravate matters... |

there is no way that all the passengers could safley jump before the airplane crashed it would just cause havoc |

Deffinately.
but if you crash into land then you're probably gonna die anyway, water - you would'nt need a parachute but you'd need to swim.
If that makes any sense?! |

It would take to much time for them to all jump in time! |
