London to America--Alcohol in baggage?

I am going to London and Greece and I plan on bringing back some domestic beer and alcohol. How much can I bring back and will they restrict it at all?

As long as it's in your checked luggage, it shouldn't be any real trouble.

However, I'm not sure about security in Greece and their restrictions (or lack thereof), so you really should check with an airline representative in the countries you'll be flying out of, as things can vary from country to country.

If you're 21 or have someone that is 21 pick up your luggage i think it will be fine .

Ask the airlines. If they won't let you bring it back, you could send it via UPS, DHL, or FedEx.

You can only bring in 1000 cc's without duty, so you will pay DUTY on EVERY BOTTLE but the first one.

"You can basically bring back as much as you want (within reason), but only one litre per person will be duty-free."

This statement is only half correct. While there is technically no limit at the federal level (so long as the duty is paid), there may be a limit that is imposed at the state level. Accordingly, the limit as to how much alcohol may be brought back is dependent upon the state into which the liquor is being imported. Many states have laws restricting the amoung of liquor a person may bring into a state without a license, so it's best to check with your state liquor control board (or whatever agency regulates alcohol) to see what the restrictions are.

i dont think that will work, pal.

I think as long as its not open and not in your carry ons you can take one or two bottles.. I tried to take some dirt home from Europe a few years ago for a friend who collects it and customs searched every single inch of all of my bags and still wouldn't even let me keep it. You might want to ask a local or an airport employee before trying this. Being haggled by people that you can't understand is NOT fun.

a couple bottles and nobody will pay any mind

You can basically bring back as much as you want (within reason), but only one litre per person will be duty-free. You should declare any amount over that and pay the duty on any amount over the one litre. Duty on amounts over one litre are usually 3% plus an IRS tax, so it's not too bad. As long as you have it in your checked luggage you should be fine, but you might want to check UK or EU websites to be sure, here's the US Customs and Border Patrol website regarding liquor:
