I really enjoyed Santa Monica Beach in California. It is really beautiful, especially when the sun is setting.

My parents went to St Lucia last year...to The Jalousie Plantation Resort...they were speechless. There are open fronted villas available...total privacy..that is the top end. Fantastic food on the resort...and great beaches. If you need a quiet romantic vacation...or watersports...walking...St Lucia sounded absolutley gorgeous. There are several resorts on the Island...Travelling from Canada I can't help you...they live in Scotland and took the trip through their time-share. Mum and dad travel a fair bit...they said it was the place they would go back too. I just took a quick look and the first thing I came up with was a web site called ...Tripadvisor...where ever you decide to go have a fantastic time...Bon Voyage !!!!

Check out Isla Mujeres in Mexico - it's very laid back, beautiful water and not too commercial.

Tahati, New Zealand, Brazil, Greece, Spain and Italy. I mean the south part for the the European countries. Why not Okinawa or Guam or Palau. (hope not to commercialized)

It's a long haul,but I love the Western Cape in South Africa. Right now it's winter and chilly by their standards, but spring is coming , sept and october and you might like the Garden Route, Cape Town to George and Knysa.
Gordon's Bay is right on the Indian Ocean and is beautiful.

My friends say the best time to visit S.A is in Feb and March after the Christmas/Summer holidays.

Look for brochures at your local travel agents or just google south african tourism.

Alanya, Turkey. You can stay at a luxury five star hotel for $50 a night that is right on the beautiful blue ocean. You can shop- Gold is super cheap in Turkey. Everything is inexpensive there and the people are great. I lived there for 3 years and miss it terribly! Fly into Istanbul and then to Alanya- the domestic airfare there is cheaper than the train sometimes. Have fun!

For something a bit out of the ordinary try Guatemala. You can go to Flores in the North which is on a lake and very un-commercial. You can also hit Panajachel near the center. It too is on a lake and just amazing-You may not want to come back. Both are very clean-organized-safe and amazing. Both coasts have quite a bit to offer as well.
The East coast is near Belize so you can go in for a day trip.
By Far one of the best destinations I have been to.
