My Driver License is Expired. Can I still Buy a plane ticket and board the plane?
It expired March of 2006.
I know what forms of ID are needed...
but I want to know if the ID is EXPIRED is it still a valid form of ID?
Thumbs up and 10 points for a to the point answer.
NO. I work for an airline and as per Federal Regulations any form of ID presented must be valid and current. Not too long ago you could use an expired passport (up to 5 years) but even that was changed. And with the new security precautions it wouldn't be a good idea. You could take a chance and maybe get away with it but what if it is noticed on your return flight? Then you would have to file a police report for a lost/stolen ID and it is still up to TSA whether or not they will accept that. You would be better bringing one of each of the items from the following lists.
List 1:
Immigration Green Card
Social Security Card
Voter Registration Card
Birth Certificate
List 2:
Credit Card
College ID
Sam's Club Card
Library Card
As long as you have one from each list and provide them together you will be fine. Enjoy your trip!

Why not get your licence renewed, or get an non-driver's ID from DMV?
melodyanne1
Ok, a VALID form of id is an id that has NOT been expired.
You might get through and board a plane, and you might not.
just go to the DMV and get a renwal and a paper license and use both. That is a valid form of id when put together.
good luck
Sasha
no they will not let you board if the license isn't valid. I went to a store one time and mine was expired they wouldn't even let me buy cigarettes with it.

Yes, for the safety of passengers, you must show a valid government-issued photo ID before you are allowed to board a plane. contact the airline for their specific procedures regarding acceptable forms of photo identification. Minor children do not need to provide a government-issued ID.
You must have a valid form. :) but i think that if it is expired and you have the photo id and ALSO another form that IS valid and hasyour name on it you might be okay.

there's a good chance they won't notice that its expired. Mine was expired for over a year and they never caught it. which is actually really sad...our airport security does suck here! But anyways, good luck, you should have no problems, especially if you're flying out of LAX

The BEST answer will come from the airline you're planning to fly. Call them. What if someone here says it's ok and then you get to airport and can't board the plane? That would suck. If it was me, I'd call the airline.

My suspicion is YES, it is a valid proof of ID. You just can't drive with it. You should call the airline to double check though.

Yes! Just don't make a point of asking the travel agent!
