It may be due to a small ear canal. The inablility of the liquid to shift.
It also happens often at the start and end of and after a cold, even if you feel fine.
DO NOT blow in ur nose what the other answerer suggested. It will only plug them more and push the liquid deeper. Try swallowing, yawning, drinking water, put hot compresses on ur ears to soothe the pressure, u can also try nasal decongestant. |

It's your tubes. They don't like the pressure. That's why boiled sweets help. |

It is the change in air pressure. The atmosphere is lighter the higher you climb. Same thing can happen when driving through a mountain range.
I always found that chewing gum or sucking on a candy works for me. |

They may be a little blocked, but not enough that you'd notice it on the ground. Happens to me too. |

On Air Malta flights they always give out boiled sweets on decent ,because of the change in cabin pressure, which has the effect you talk about on ones ears. |

It's caused by changes in air pressure.
Try yawning. It's the only thing which works for me!
If you are not sleepy, just go through the motion of yawning, and you will soon start yawning properly...so will people around you :-) |

Happens to me too (but only in one ear due to the other having been perforated) - try pinching your nose and blowing (as if blowing your nose) but keep your mouth shut as you do it.This can help balance the pressure. |

Because of the pressure of airplane cabin. The airplane need to equalize its pressure to the high altitude so that passenger can breath normally. These can also affect your ears. Try to put an earplug next time you board aplane you can buy it in some pharmacy. Yawning also helps & swalowing motion can also alleviate it. |

now bcoz every1 has already told why the problem is,
the remedy is called "valsalva maneuver"... u pinch your nose, blow air and swallow at the same time" it'll work, if u r not suffering from cold......
flying during a flu or cold can make your eardrum pain like hell, n many cases result in infection.... |
