This due to changes in air pressure as you go up and down. For relief pop a sweet or candy snack in just before take off and swallow your saliva several times while actually going up. Because the tubes in the ear passage the naval cavity are connected the swallowing action relieves the pressure. Of course if you are having intense pain and bleeding, you probably need to see a doctor before your next flight.

They shouldn't hurt. It means that your eustacian tubes (the tube that connects your ear to yout throat are clogged. Next time you fly, try using the "compensating" technique divers use. Hold you nose and mouth shut and blow. This should equalize pressure between your middle ear and outer ear. Do not blow too hard though because you can blow out a little oval opening that has a membrane on it on your inner ear (It's called the some thing window but I am senile this morning and can't remember what it is).

Altitude change causes pressure. Chew gum. Doing so will produce saliva. Swallowing your saliva will made your ears pop and you will feel better.

Do a lot of swallowing...it helps counter the "ear-popping" effect....which is simply caused by the change of air-pressure as you go up in altitude.

it's normal .. pressure !! or maybe urs is really pain .. i think u should go n see ENT doctor !!
hope this can help you !! =)

teh_flea
The air pressure is forcing your ears to pop. Chewing or yawning usually helps (I rarely get on a plane without a pack of gum), and so does pinching your nose shut, closing your mouth and trying to blow air out of your nose until your ears pop.

If they still hurt long after the flight, go to a doctor. You may have an ear infection.

I have heard that you can chew gum and when your eyes clog up yawn and your ears should clear up. Chewing gum and yawning should help you through it. Don't let it clog up for long because it will seem long to clear it up. Good Luck

Don't fly on airlines

peaceman
Me, too., especially in small planes. Licking sweets hardly addresses the problem with me.

Keepingmycool
its normal, chew gum

mogwai_b4_midnite
Chew gum. Swallowing occassionally (not the gum) will cause your ears to open up.

Everyone else gave you the bubble gum/candy solution so I'm gonna try something different ;)
Bring a few q-tips with you and use them, they will force your ear to pop.

Bubblegum never does it for me. Bring (sugar free) hard candy with you for the swallowing.... then keep yawning when the pressure in the ears still develops.

weswe
Try chewing gum while taking off.

Strangesuzy
Buy some barley sugar or other hard sweets. Whenever you have one in your mouth, you will swallow regularly. This helps maintain equilibrium in the pressure in the inner ears, and stop the ear ache.

Chew gum.. Make sure your sinuses are clear before flying

A lot of people get that, especially when landing. Try sucking a boiled sweet and yawning a lot.
