I recently flew from Edinburgh which is non smoking. I had to smoke outside until i was ready to check in. Once checked in, i could nip outside but once through the security gates, no more fags for me. |

I wouldn't have thought so - even a smoker's room constitutes an enclosed public space, so I'd imagine you'd have to have your last ciggie before going into the airport! Sorry! |

There is info on the Gatwick website at http://www.gatwickairport.com/portal/page/LGW%5EAirport+Information%5ESmoking+at+BAA+Airports/a67464e17ba13110VgnVCM10000036821c0a____/448c6a4c7f1b0010VgnVCM200000357e120a____/ |

I'm a non smoker and I am so glad that I won't have to breath in otherrpeoples smoke anymore, but I feel it is VERY unfair on those who are addicted to cigarettes to have to suffer hours of withdrawal symptoms when they travel, or go places. There should be smoking rooms set aside for these, it's only going to force some to break the rules otherwise. |

As long as they haven't gone through passport control they will be able to go back outside for a cigarette, once through afraid its nicotine gum or patches. |

No of course there isn't. No smoking applies in all airports. If you are that desperate you will have to check in your luggage and then stand outside the building somewhere instead of proceeding into the departures area. Why not roll up some fivers and light them? |

No, and you can't sneak one either, as you will get a 50 quid fine, if you get caught. |

Once you're through security you won't be able to go outside.
Give up. |

If there is a smoking ban in ALL public buildings, then you would have to go outside (Not on the Plane!). |

Birmingham Airport has been no smoking for a number of months, you can only smoke outside the terminal building, I am sure it will be the same at Gatwick.
Check in your cases and wait for the final call before you go through to the Departure Lounge because once through there you will not be a ble to have another cigarette. |
