Domestic flight, not required.
International flight, yes. See if immigration can have your baby included intoo one of the parent's passport when travelling together or get your baby his/her own passport. I did for mine when she was 6 month old. Just update the picture as the baby grows up. |

no...i have been flying with my son since he was 2 months old..i asked that question too...i called the airport and the airline carrier to be sure before i got there...they said you dont need an ID but just to be safe, carry a copy of their birth certificate...he is 4 now and been on dozens of flights and i never have had a problem |

Nope. If the baby is traveling internationally, you may want to look into that, but if it's a domestic flight, you are fine. If you bring a stroller, they will either run it through the x-ray machine or search it by hand (or both). |

Flying internationally yes.... I had to get my baby a passport when flying to USA, he was 8 months old, it costed a pretty bob too.... like 95 for passport and 7 quid for passport photo. |

be very careful about documentation if you are flying internationally...often you need more than ID..you need letters of consent from the other parent etc...don't take this issue lightly.

I just returned from a vacation. My grand daughter and I flew and she was not requried to have ID, however, if we would have went overseas - then she'd have to have ID plus a letter from her parents stating it is OK for her to be with me. Every airline has their own rules about traveling with children - call them and ask.
My suggestion; when your wife takes your infant on a flight - please please, have her ask a doctor what to do for the baby to keep their ears from hurting them. Whenever I fly, and passengers have infants with them, once we begin going up the kids will just start screaming; their ears hurt, they don't understand why and they don't know what to do about it except scream or cry. |
