You should have paid the extra or taken out travel insurance.
If it says non-refundable that means no refund !

needanswers
re-sell them on ebay with one of those one day sale things

Non refundable tickets= NO REFUND!

Geoff M
You should be able to get a refund of the government/airport taxes. However, they usually charge an admin fee for this - in easyJet's case the admin fee often happens to match the taxes...

lollipop
Means your money is gone, never to return to your pocket. Once upon a time, you could resell them, but I don't think that is allowed anymore either. Depending on where you bought the ticket, and the reason for canceling the flight, contact a manager/supervisor and plead your case. Wishing you luck...

You're screwed. Most airlines will charge almost as much as the ticket cost to change the name too.

Yorkshire Pudding
Not a prayer. You probably got them cheaper because they were non-refundable. I have tried many times in the past (my ex-boss used to cancel flights all the time). Never succeeded. You could always try calling the travel agent to see if they can be transferred into someone elses name if you can find someone else to go in your place.

Impossible there is no way to claim your money back.
Your only options are to sell theticket either via a local paper or id definatly put it on ebay but make sure first you can get a name change!

Read your own question, buddy!

"NON refundable". What's that mean, I wonder?

Ain't gonna happen. Depending on the airline and the type of a ticket you might be able to have the funds applied to a new ticket or you might be able to pay a fee to get new dates & flights. You won't be able to change the name on the ticket so you will not be able to resell it.

modeller_db
You have asked this as a question so are you offering to make the refund?

purplebuggy
Aint gonna happen

hard as nails
Flog them on ebay
some muppet will buy them

Not possible but you might be able to sell ticket. Changing details costs about £20 so you might be able to recoup some of your money

Most airlines will let you change the dates for a change fee, Iif you cancel the reservation before you take the flight. You CAN NOT CHANGE THE NAME ON A TICKET. This is set in stone. I capitalize this for emphasis. I see that some people are advising you to sell the tickets. You cant do this. Now, if your flight was cancelled by the airline or weather you might be able to get a waiver. Sorry to give you bad news.
