Check on the airlines website for passport/visa requirements most countries need min of 6 months validity on them before you enter some require 3 months. If you get no joy with the airlines website have a look at the embassy's web site it will tell you everything you need to know

IF it's a US Passport. it's good for 10 years from date of issue

Most countries want your passport to be valid for at least 6 months after you arrival date. I suggest you apply for new ones now and they carry over the remainder for you on your new passports so you dont lose out. I wouldnt chance anything and you have plenty of time to apply unless you are thinking of travelling anywhere between then and now. Link below lists that the passport needs to be valid for 6 months. As long as you will return before the passports expire there will be no problem at all. You will probably have to show your travel itinary at the entry point to show that you will be returning before the passports expire.

it is adviced to have at least 6 month left on your passport before travelling, my hubby travels a lot , and that is what he has been told.

I'm not sure if it has to be. But if it only expires a couple of months after that holiday, it might be an idea to renew, just in case.

yes if you plan on traveling after April you will need to renew them.

You should have your husband's passport renewed now. Yours should be ok if you're traveling in January unless your trip is going to last longer than 3 months. How long will you be there?

Are these British passports?
US? The rules will be different.

If British (or another EU country) then I don't think you need to have any extra length on your passport, since you would be travelling within the EU

Most countries require at least 6 months.

You can renew your passport for 10 years plus the unexpired period still left. If your passport expires in 4 months your renewal will be for 10 years + the 4 months. It is not worth the risk of going abroad with a passport with an unexpired period of
less than 6 months
