Plane Crash?

Is it possible to survive a plane crash if you jump out at the last few moments??

Oracle
You wont survive.

What are you planning MIke.

Paul W
would you jump out of a car at 300mph ???????

James M
You'd still be travelling at the same speed as the plane, and would splat all over the runway.

arothman.com
I would imagine that you're actually better off staying in the plane - it'll absorb some of the shock. Same way that you're better off in a car crash if you're not thrown out of the window...

ascoile
No
What would you jump out of?
Your body velocity would be too high

anything is possible, but the impact of hitting the ground at that speed would be more likely to kill you than if you let the plane take the brunt of the impact then try to get out before the fuel tanks explode.

me2
your body would still be moving at the same speed as the plane.
Of course you could always try it and then let us know

johny
umm no!!! you might survive but i dont think so.

Say what!!!!
Rating
You won't survive, it also depends where and what you land on. Ker plunk.......

So_This_Is_It?

no because you will be flying at the same speed as the plane and the impact will be the same when you finally hit the ground

prince_henry
no, if the plane is falling to Earth at 120 MPH then so are you, just coz you jump off 3 feet before it hits the ground dos not mean you have only jumped 3 feet your still moving at 120 MPH in relation to the ground

I've wondered that too, but I doubt it, because of how fast the plane is going, and depending which door you jump out of, you could, 1. be sucked into the engines, or 2. be burned alive from the heat of the engines.

Ouch. ;[

Heather G
probably not

Very happily married.

Thats just going to increase your chances of dying.

As most have said, you would be travelling at the same speed as the plane, what no-one else has added, if you are talkling about a passenger plane, you won't be able to open the door.

Mike A F
Of course not.
Why does everyone think that they can do things that Bugs Bunny can?

~Alice~
If you have a parachute then yes you can survive but if not then you be better off in the plane. And same with the car.

jess ? nick
if your close enough to water i guess its possible...then you would have to worry about sharks! yikes!
