Two big planes - a 747 and a 340 - with wide wingspan just touched wing tips taxiing. A very minor crash really but the planes wont fly until repaired and checked over by the engineers. What will really hit the passengers is the wait til next available flight and the fact that the planes wont be where they should have been for a while. A few years back was an amazing story of a 340 inbound to Heathrow from Los Angeles which came down without all undercarriage down. Nobody hurt then although plane bellied its way onto the runway but it was all fixed up within a couple of weeks and resumed flying again. Good that nobody was hurt this time either.

About a year ago I was about to land at Brussels and just as we came over the airport boundary, full power came on and we shot skywards again. Was rather disturbing but we learned that a BA flight to Frankfurt had some warning and had slotted right in front of us as an emergency and then stopped and evacuated on the runway. Now that would have rattled some cages but in the end nobody hurt their either. Flying is still much safer than road transport.

Two aircraft have collided while taxiing at Heathrow Airport.
It is understood that one is a British Airways 747 and the other is a Sri Lanken jet.

The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that no-one has been injured in the incident which happened at 2215 BST.
