to get into the shops beyond security ...yes you need tickets for that because security ask for the plan tickets and you ID

There is only no VAT only if you travel outside the EU. You must check-in and go threw security before you get to Duty Free and Airport Shopping. You need boarding cards a passport and tickets to do this!!

Actually you would be surprised how many people have not been out of their own country. Can be due to various reasons but hopefully you will get an opportunity to see another country.
They do put duty-free shops in the airport after you pass through security (in which you need a ticket to go through). If you were allowed to go to the duty-free shops without a ticket, then lots of people would just go to the airport and buy duty-free things such as cigarettes and alcohol so they can get away from paying VAT.

You need to get passed security and into the terminal. You need a ticket to do so. It is located near the gates not in the main part of the airport

Yes you need a ticket (for that day) to an international destination to get into the duty free store. Otherwise they won't even let you in the store, even to browse! :)

just go there and see what happens. depending on the airport sometimes u can get the the shops with out a ticket
