You can get hypnosis tapes, that you listen to once, say a day or week before you go and your fear will be all gone. Check it out on the Internet. |

Close your window and imagine you're in a boat, a car or even a bus going along the highway. Or try picturing you're flying only a few feet off the ground. Hope it helps! |

well when i went on my first slight i took Dramamine as i sat in my seat in the plane and when the plane started moving i got really nervous, 30 minutes later i got really tired and felt more relaxed so i would say Dramamine might help you relax and keep you from getting motion sickness |

Bless ya, i know u are not alone in this, i have a friend who wouldn't even attempt to get on an airplane. so your half way there.
I always buy there earphones so i can watch a film or listen to there music if i don't have my mp3 available. talking to your companions helps. maybe even having a sleep. my daughter always keeps me to busy to worry. |

I have flown every year to norway since i was 1 and i was never really scared but when i was in first grade i thought that the plane was going to crash but then i got my stuffed animal and thought that there has rarely ever been a plane crash and if i could do that as a 1st grade i bet you can do it at your age. Just think that nothing bad is going to happen then enjoy the flight. I love to fly now. just put your ipod on think you are somewhere eles then once taking off is over you should just relax. When you decend just chew some gum and you will be in the ground before you know it. |

Bring something to read or listen to. You might even want to hold hands with your significant other, if you have one. Good luck |

I saw this in a movie: keep yourself busy, like talking, music, or video games, and you'll forget all about being scared of flight!
This was from my friend's experience: he sleeps just when the plane takes off
My opinion: imgaine yourself in a car, or a boat, or your happy place! |

Flying in a plane is safer than riding in a car! Relax, and have fun! |

I have a huge fear of flying, but not death...even more messed up, right? But what I always do is turn on some tunes, close my eyes, and let it roll. Jet Blue is really good because they only fly one type of aircraft. |

Flying is actually very safe. I know you have probably heard this before, but flying is actually safer than driving a car. I was scared the first time too, but everyone is scared of what they don't know. It's really not as bad as you think it is. If your old enough to drink,, have a drink at the airport bar before you board the place. |

Get a book you have always wanted to read. Drink a cup of relaxing tea or a glass of wine. Read the facts about air travel and its safety. Practice deep breathing. Don't hold your breath. Breathe through your fright. Close your eyes and meditate upon something relaxing to you. Think about all the fun you will have! Good Luck! |

I'd study up on planes and how they work. I think knowing a little about the power of jet engines and how wings give you lift makes flying more interesting than scary for me.
I've also heard hypnosis can help. (Look online, I'll bet you can find something to try for free.)
I would make sure you had an mp3 player. I think your favorite tunes would help keep you calm. |

A fear of flying is totally understandable, however did you know that your much much MUCH more likely to die actually driving to and from the airport than you are from the actuall plane ride itself!
Also, many people are afraid of airplanes because crashes are so commonly blown up in newspapers, computers, and television. Why? Because of how rare they are! When something rare happens, the media likes to make it seem way worse, just to get people read their papers and watch their news.
Did you know, that plane crashes are among the top 6 most feared yet LEAST likely causes of death?
Anyways, now that you know all of THAT info, one of the first steps is admitting your afraid. Which, I think you have already. ;)
Now, just try to do things that YOU like to do! (for example, if your into sports, get together with some friends and play, or if you like music go to a concert or dance and jam out to some tunes!) By doing things you like, your mind won't be worried about the plane ride!
Avoid things that will cause you stress as well. I mean, you sure don't need anymore stress on top of what your already worried about! ;)
Finally, maybe your not religious, but IF you are, pray! I can guarantee nothing will happen on your trip, but a little extra support from the one up there won't hurt. I'll pray that everything will go well for you too!
Good Luck gurl!

good luck, thats what i do when i fly on airplanes! |
