Sometimes you can save money by making a reservation on the web, and usually they allow a window for pickup time before giving your car away to someone else.

If you dont have a reservation and get there and there is NO car, what will you do? Try several rentals places and see who has the best option, including the ability to cancel at the last minute. I have never had to have a deposit when I have rented a car, but then I did not have it delivered to the airport.

They run specials sometimes on certain days of the week or if you keep the car for a certain length of time. I would call them and find out. Compare the rates and all that.

What if you phone haggled? Find a rental for cheaper then call them back and say you found the same thing for cheaper, ask them if they can beat that!

Look for online internet specials, and or,. those pesky little ads in your credit card bills. Most rental companies give you a leeway as to pick up time esp. at airports. Good luck and have a great trip.

I don't think reserving the car in advance saves much money. My husband likes to negotiate the price. We almost never pay what they are asking. Check the internet and see if you can get a deal. Also, if you get the Entertainment 2008 book, there should be some discount coupons for rental cars.

Renting a car for a one way trip is always more expensive. If you are stuck in the Atlanta airport for your layover, you may want to explore it a bit. It is filled with all kinds of art, shops and places to eat. Good luck and have a good trip.
