that's right,I always take my own food. unfortunately, nowadays you're not allowed to take water you've brought from home. You have to buy it after custom control (which still costs twice as much, but never as much as on the plane).
Ryanair are the worst airline I've ever been on.
And they pride themselves to be among the best........
The staff can't even speak properly.............. Bastards!

This is how budget airlines work. They have to get money from somewhere.

In order to keep the cost of the ticket down (to attract customers), they take away all the perks and have to charge you high prices for any extras, like in-flight drinks and baggage check-in.

If the drinks prices were lowered, the ticket prices would go up. What would you prefer?

I got return ryanair flight from spain to malta for 10 euros, including taxes. It costs more than that for a taxi to the airport. They can charge what they want for drinks, I don't care. If you want a cheaper onboard service, fly with a non-budget airline and pay more for your ticket.

Lisdeleau
I know, prices on budget airlines are riduculous as thats how they recoup some of their costs! They really have you over a barrel too since we're not allowed to take liquid onto the plane! BUT there is a way round it...i always buy those minature bottles of spirits or bottles of wine from duty free once you're in departures and consume them on the plane! You're not meant to but i've never been caught!

damien.bone
yeah and they charge to check in baggage!

Although I do agree that the prices are a rip off, you don't want to be telling people to stop buying food on the plane if you like their cheap fares.

They use the food as a way of getting extra profit and by doing this it means that the fares staw lower as they don't have to increase the profit margins on the ticket prices.

You tell everyone not to buy food on the plane, thier profit on food slows and lowers, thus does their overall profit, in turn forcing them to increase profit margins elsewhere, ie from ticket prices.

Yeah, I agree. I never buy anything on the plane. I usually go to Boots in the airport and buy one of their meal deals, you get a sandwich, drink and crisps etc and great value too. When I'm on the plane I also ask for a glass of water so that the air hostess brings me a plastic cup of water that has been poured from a large bottle they have, otherwise you will have to buy a small bottle (another rip off). I'm not tight, it's just that their prices are a total rip off.

Thomas Cook wanted £13.90 for two tiny bottles of wine and one of those tiny cans of coke, yeah right, I never buy anything to eat or drink on planes now, total rip off.

cvillecmd
But their tickets are dirt cheap most of the time. I'd rather pay really low airfare and then be charged for extras.
