Should Easyjet change their name to Easymoney? |
Checked in on time for flight with hubbie and kid, went straight to Security, delayed by megalong queue and staff-shortage, arrived at Gate 10 mins to spare and bumped from flight. Told by staff there £35 EACH to "transfer" to another flight but stonewalled at Sales and charged £297. Later told by others bumped before us from same flight Head Office had approved £35 charge and approached another employee who printed out £292.47 bill and said it would be refunded and £105 charged (would you argue with a steamroller at 7.30am?)
Checked on return, no refund to credit card, no answer from "we will answer your email within 24 hours" helpline, tracked down live person on phone (no mean feat) who said he would effect refund and email me - email says charged £292 and.... no refund.
We did nothing wrong and yet have no recourse to being walked all over by Easyjet. Flight home 30 mins late - they're "sorry" - where's my £292.47? Anyone know what Aviation Authority I can contact?? Additional Details Sparkey and Offama Trolley - thanks for answers but maybe you should read my small print - I did all the right things - checked in on time and went straight to gate via Security as forced to do - I had no control over any other person's ineptitude. Easyjet said Security delay was not their problem; Security said Easyjet's attitude was not their problem. They work because of and with each other in the same building and there is no attempt at communication between them or interest in the welfare of passengers (who are completely robbed of control) who are paying their salaries for jobs not well done. |

Hi there I work for BA in the terminals and we have on a daily basis our passengers missing flights due to the lovely managed Q's at security everyday due to x-ray machines not working or due to staff shortages. We do our upmost to try and persuade the BAA to allow people thru first with 30 mins to go before their flight generally speaking we have to fight with them or they simply do not give a damn anyway and people miss their flight.
Easyjet are totally wrong in charging you the passenger to buy a new ticket, with us we can tell when you have checked in and at what time and where you checked in too if it is down to security then we would re-book you free of charge as we would re-charge the BAA for their inconvenience to you on the first avail flight. I would fight for your money back because they are simply robbing you out of pocket expenses that was not your fault in the first place.
They should have a way of re-tracing the check in transactions for that flight on that day and they will have exact proof of when you checked in. But like anything else with low cost carriers they try and grab every penny from you weither you are responsable or not. (not saying it because I work for BA) I have had problems with ryan air on 2 occasions but thats another story. I would go as high as you can to get the money back plus interest if you dont get any joy ask them for a notification of rights letter which stipulates your rights as a passenger and what you are entitiled to, you are within your legal rights to get a copy of this and if they refuse or state that they dont know what it is then they are simply lying to you.
Stay well away from low cost carriers sometimes going that bit cheaper simply costs you in the long run.
Hope this helps
good luck |

If you missed a flight because of their actions, contact the company. If you get no joy, see a solicitor and take them to the small claims court, and don't use them again!
I never had any problems with them, but its bound to happen to someone. |

Another avenue to get you money back might be to go to your bank. If the money was taken inappropriately then you may be able to claim it through them, this would be more so if you paid with Visa. Make sure you keep all correspondence and a record of all phone calls (date, time, who you talked to and what office they operated out of). If you have this information you may be able to lodge a claim with the small claims court. They will probably settle rather than have to pay someone to fight on their behalf |

i have never flown with easy jet but i have seen the airline program enough to know that you need to check in on time and go straight to the gate
they only have a 20 mins turn round and there is not a lot of spare time
to save money the service is cut to the bone so you get what you pay for
if you are not happy fly with BA and see how much it costs |

More like Harry Enfields "LOADSAMONEY" character.
This sounds totally wrong.
Try the complaints ombudsman, or citizens advice - otherwise apart from doing a protest outside an airport, I wouldn't know where to start.
Personally, I'd be very angry for a long time if I had that treatment.
I guess the moral of your story will end up as "Always read the small print" no matter what the situation. |

why don't you get some adcise from your solicitior? this happened to me as well, but that time it was my mistake. they really are not easy at all as they promise. all they want is the money that we worked hard for. if you have the time go to the airport and talk to the staff. tell them u want to talk to their manager. get his/her private number and get him/her bring back your money. good luck dear |
