i'm planning to travel from Dallas,TX, to Atlanta,GA, on march 24th. throuhg Delta Airlines. i wanted to book for my flight a few days ago, but somthing told me to wait. now the fares are down by $28(cool!!!). i wanted to know is it advicable i wait and book later so that the fares my go down or is it too risky!!! can the fares increase instead?

Not only can the fares increase, but the longer you leave it, the less chance you have of even getting a seat! Book a seat now, and you'll be guaranteed a place. But if you leave it too late they could book up then you won't be able to get a flight at all...

Book now!! In my experience the longer you leave it the higher the cost will be, you will also have less choice regarding seat allocation too. Ticket prices tend to drop to allow the airline to get rid of them, then rise at the last minute so those that have left it until the last minute have to pay loads!

G Dogg
The earlier you book your flight the cheaper it will be. If you wait to book your flight to close to the date of departure the ticket prices sky rocket. Also keep in mind if your flying delta to Atlanta direct the ticket will also be a higher price then opposed to a flight where you have to make connections in another city.

Book the flight now!!!
It's way to risky, same thing happened with my family we called but didn't book and then the next day we called the same airline and they raised their prices!!
Airline prices go up and down as fast as a snap of a finger.
Book the flight now and have no worries.
Have fun in Georgia!!!!

Always a gamble. If you can afford the price - buy now and don't wait - don't look at the price again. Just be happy you bought at a good price.

Usually fares will increase the closer it gets to the date. My brother just booked his flight 2 days before his flight (he's in the army so he didn't know he was going to get to come home until 3 days before) and the ticket was $490.00!! That was from CA to GA though. So I'd buy it now...so they don't go up. Good luck!

AnastasiaBeaverhousen
Not only can the fares increase, but if you wait too late you will pay MUCH more than you need to. Be sure to purchase at least 2 weeks before your trip, which would be by the 10th of this month. If the prices have just dropped $28, I would go ahead and be happy with that savings and go ahead and book!

I would by them now...cause if you wait to long they will go up as you get closer to the day you want to leave...

Have a nice trip~

I would book, $28 is a good rate.

Book it right now because airline prices almost always go up closer to the departure date. The reason the price when down a little is probably because a group of people cancelled or something. It would be extremely unlikely for that to happen again.

luddite
Don't leave it too long. The prices will go up and stay up about a month before departure. You can't get cheap, last minute seats.

Girugamesh
(in the uk..) budget airlines are cheaper the earlier you book, and mega expensive a few days before, whilst the decent ones are usually the reverse. It can also depend if you fly at peak times and/or fly to or from expensive airports, try and see what the costs are at closer airports.

Elena M
Fares change on a daily basis, sometimes they can even change 2 or 3 times in a day depending on the airline and also tax charges.

My opinion, from working for a travel company, is to buy it as soon as possible. If it is a flight that many people will book then the price will go up.

Here is a flight search engine that will pick out the cheapest flights for you
