Small Child in Flight for first time?

I will be flying with my child in Lufthansa from India to US. Can you please shed light on what ought to be done to make this a pleasant flight for both my child and us(Parents). Thanks

Bring lots of toys, books and snacks.

Be on the ball - try to head off potential tantrums before they start.

With 2 parents there, it's best to make sure one of you is responsible for the details of checking in, etc. And the other focusses exclusively on the child. Tantrums can start very quickly when both parents are paying attention to something other than the child

a new colouring book or other stuff to keep them from getting bored. clean underwear and pants or whatever to change because it can be difficult to get into the airplanes washroom sometimes.

if possible, don't have your child nap before the flight so that he/she will be tired and sleep during a good portion of the time. Bring some of his/her fav snacks aboard. Check first if the airline will allow this. Make sure ALL of you have comfortable clothes on! Good luck, have a safe flight!!

In addition to what everyone else said, you might want to bring gum or some chewy candy for your child: That will help equalize the pressure in your ears. The popping sensations when you climb and land can be painful.

Enjoy your flight!

Bring the child's car-seat and if you'd been planning on travelling with him or her in your lap, purchase a child's fare (usually cheaper) for the car-seat. Strapping baby into the car-seat is way safer than carrying on laps, and will leave your arms free to attend to the child instead of having to juggle. Plus your child is probably already used to being in a car-seat and will be a little more comfortable than experiencing a plane for the first time.

Just make sure they have things like coloring books, books, cd's, and they show movies too. Also Make sure they don't sleep very much the night before. Have a fun time = )

If it is a baby, bottle feed during take off, the act of swallowing will relieve the pressure on the ears. Don't bring too much crap on board with you, you will already have your hands full.. a book, and lots of little snacks.. not too much sugar though.. he will be bouncing off the walls.

The best advice is to keep the child awake as much to the time you fly....So play games, and no naps.....just be careful...keep child awake, only a few extra hours..not 10 or 15!!!.......and you should have a o.k. flight ...you didn't say what age, and this makes a huge difference. But, if the child is awake a little longer close to flight time, then it will sleep on the flight.Good luck.
Oh! lots of interesting toys(small ones)...o.k.

U must book the first row seat......
