So this is a really stupid question but...?

I have anxiety, so I carry a safety pin everywhere and like make it make this clicky sound. It clams and and keeps me from freaking out. No one knows that that's why I always have a safety pin, they just think I'm crazy. Anyways, I'm going to Florida tomorrow and I was just wondering if I could some how get a safety pin on the plane. Its a kinda big safety pin and I'd use it to hook my bra together or something then say that my bra broke and that's holding it together then once on the other side take it off and play with it. So would I get in trouble or can I just bring a safety pin on a plan with no problems? I'm a 16 year old caucasian girl but I don't think that makes a difference.

Get a clicker instead. In places like fun shops that sell practical jokes and so on, you can often find little metal clickers that make a sharp clicking sound when you press on them. They are harmless and don't have sharp points like a safety pin does, so it should be easy to get through security with them.

Of course, some people might driven crazy if you constantly click the clicker, but that's a separate issue.

Another alternative is to find something else that you can fidget with instead of a safety pin. Many felt pens have caps that click very nicely.

If it is big enough to set off the metal detector and it's on your bra, you'll probably have to get halfway undressed for Homeland Security, and they'd probably still take it away from you. I think you are better off using it as a decorative pin to hold a scarf on or hold a fake flower on your hat or jacket. Might have to give it up, though.

Can you think of a substitute? like a small metal carabiner or a beeaded steel lamp or fan pullchain? You could carry that onboard and pack the pin in checked luggage.

When I get upset I reach for my favourite keychain.
It is in the shape of a hexagon and it has a smalled one in the middle that spins around, and it has a picture of a different tiger on both sides.
http://4imgs.com/306/x/850346_FULL.jpg
it looks like that but its a hexagon.
Anyway, when I was coming back on a plane from Queensland I was very nervous so I was spinning it around for 2 hours. When I get upset I do that aswell. Anyway, I suggest you go to a shop somewhere and buy one. They really help.
I say all this cos I know they won't let you bring a pin on the plane.

Don't wear the pin trust me because when you walk through the body scanner it'll beep & putting it in your purse will show up too. Do you have a pen that has the push button on top to make the nib come out because this'll make the clicking sound that you need OK If you don't have one they sell them at the airport I'm a frequent flyer & believe me they check out everything I hope this helps & enjoy your trip

Woody
If it is less than 2 inches long, you can take it on board.
I assume you have more than one of them. Put one in your checked bag, and try to carry the other one on board (show it to the TSA - be honest). Worst case - you have to play with something else during the flight.

Ha wow thats actually a good plan. I think all they would do is just scan you around the chest area to see if your telling the truth. Unless they make you go in the bathroom and take it off. Because when i went on a plane one time my mom had scissors in her purse and they dont give it back to you. So if they do make you take it off you might not get it back.
Good luck!

some how throw it in front of you seconds before you are scanned by security then after they scan you run ahead and pick up the pin.
