It is not a bad airline and receives fewer complaints per 1,000 passengers than any other major airline. They also have one of the lowest mishandled baggage rate in the industry as well.

Right now Southwest has received a lot of bad publicity but I would have no problems boarding a Southwest Airlines flight. The airline treats its employees well and in turn the employees treat the passengers pretty well. Depending on the flight crew you have, they may rap the on-board safety features of the 737 and there have been stories of flight attendants who greet you from inside the overhead bin.

It's pretty good, make sure to print your boarding pass online 24 hours ahead of yur flight and you will have no problem with it,

I've never actually flown, but that's all my parents will ever fly. I've never heard anything bad. I've only flown Frontier.

People is right about the seats, they are nice. However this airline always overbook their fights and they are always stuggling with that. In every fight I've been to they always ask people to give up their seat so that other people can get on the fight.
By giving up it means that you will fly in the next fight and a bonus 100 or 200 dlls.

The seating is free and this means that you have to be at the airport pretty early or check in online a day before so that you are in the first seating group.
When you are IN the airport and you want a good seat you have to stay in line at the gate at all times. (No shoppimg around)

Is a cheap but good airline, with a lot of fights. Some pros and cons ... Just like everything

You've probably heard about them in the news recently, but from my own personal experience, they are the best out there. Large, comfortable seats with plenty of leg room, open seating, and very good prices. Highly recommended.

DALLAS (AP) â€” Southwest Airlines Co. grounded 43 planes to examine if they were structurally sound enough to carry passengers after it recently acknowledged it had missed required inspections of some planes for cracks.

Southwest shares fell more than 9 percent before closing down 7.3 percent.

The move announced Wednesday affects about 8 percent of its fleet and comes as Southwest faces a $10.2 million civil penalty for continuing to fly almost 50 planes after the airline told regulators that it had missed required inspections of the planes.

The Federal Aviation Administration, which announced the penalty last week, has also come under fire for failing to ground the Southwest jets last year, when agency inspectors learned they had not been inspected for cracks in the fuselage.

Southwest initially said it grounded 41 planes, but spokeswoman Linda Rutherford later said 38 planes were taken off the schedule for additional inspection along with five others that were already in hangars undergoing routine maintenance.

Rutherford said the airline pulled the planes out of service after getting clarification from manufacturer Boeing Co. on Tuesday night about the type of inspection â€” visual or magnetic, or a combination of both â€” needed for areas around the windows on some older Boeing 737-300 and 737-500 jets.
