Man, she is hot. I would like to tap that.

As the woman in question was dressed in a way that is neither illegal in public nor, frankly, an unusual mode of dress in the US, I think that Southwest is out of line.
I could understand if she was flying to a country where it is considered to be offensive - maybe even if she was flying on an airline from one of those countries - but she was flying to Tucson on an American air carrier!
This is just one of many recent 'airline employees with attitude problem' events and it seems that airlines are becoming increasingly of the opinion that they can do whatever they want to their passengers and, thanks to greater powers granted due to security requirements, there isn't a damned thing that the passenger can do.
Of course, each time that one of the airlines does something stupid like this, they get a mass of negative publicity.
The real question is; Are you going to stop flying Southwest because Kyla Ebbert was made victim to an assinine policy? Are you even going to contact Southwest to express your dismay?
I can pretty much guarantee that Southwest is banking on its potential passengers to not care enough to use another carrier. If you fly on an airline that treats any of its passengers in this way, you are condoning their actions by handing them your money.
Yes, Southwestern was wrong, but do you care enough to stop giving them your money?

While the skirt was short she should have had no problems. The only reason there was an issue was one person complained. Southwest has a policy that says they can remove you for inappropriate dress or some such thing. The problem is whoes to say what is or isn't appropriate. Basically the passenger who complained in the first place needs to get a life. Southwest needs to get a clue.

"Thank you for flying Taliban Airlines!"

Is this really the first woman ever to fly in an airliner while wearing a short skirt? I think not.

Gata
If they wanted to make that a policy they should state that before you PAY them. Coming from Miami she looked like she was going to church. Lord knows I've showed up to a flight wearing less..its my damn right! SW air in 2005 removed a passenger because they felt her t-shirt was indecent. It said "Meet the Fockers" along with the faces of Bush, Cheney & Rice .As for the short skirt, I don't think they had that right. If it was because she was flashing someone they should have worded themselves a little more cautiously. I hope she sues those small minded idiots.

Jean G
check out SWA's own web page, under "History". They had some "hot pants" on the stews over 30 years ago that were shorter than what that woman wore.

Kann
I think it is ridiculous. It is that persons issue if they are that jealous or tempted, not hers. I saw what she was wearing, it was not that outrageous! Holy smoly, I have seen women and men wear things they should not be and it offends me, but I chose to not look. I would much prefer they keep seriously stinky people off the plane until they shower or something, id rather sit next to a woman wearing what that girl was than someone who stinks so much it makes me want to vomit.

I think they went too far. They asked her to pull her skirt down as far as she could and they still weren't satisfied. They had to give her a blanket to cover her legs.

I wonder how they would handle tight fitting clothes? Or those guys who like their butt crack showing?

They made fools of themselves and there is nothing we can or should do about it.

pythos
I think the puritanical society that is emerging has got to go. This woman is being chastised for wearing an outfit a lot of people do not have the shape for because they ate too much and excercised too little.

This is just stupid prudish "I don't like that, so you shouldn't either" mentality.

I would understand this if she was wearing only a thong! But man it was just a mini skirt and a decent looking top with a sweater. That Southwest employee and the guy who complained it seriously need to get a life. What do they expect us to wear while travelling, a Bourka?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I didn't hear about this, couldn't find an article or a picture so my answer may not be accurate but if what this woman was wearing was inappropriate and provided "indecent exposure" than I feel the airline was correct in denying boarding.

Glen W
In the videos her shirt is pulled way down so it hides how tiny the skirt really is. Because the top is white it blends into the white mini skirt. Most of the videos cut the part of the video when she sits down because you then can see how small it really is. I once saw a girl walking at the mall with the same tiny white skirt and a top that exposed her belly and you would have though she was walking naked the way people stared, turned heads and made comments. I am not saying right or wrong, but the media is kinda spinning this like the outkit is not that skimmpy when it really is.

On the Today Show she was asked if maybe, I'll paraphrase, passengers were getting a beaver shot as they walked on by. She answered...."MY LEGS WERE CROSSED." Excuse me, did I hear her admitting the skirt rises so high she can not sit without crossing her legs! And apparantly the Today show would not let her sit with uncrossed legs. Get it now, she sat down with legs, at some point, UNCROSSED and even she admits that's the beaver shot so t'aint' how she scores standing up, walking, talking yada yada.... the proof is in the uncrossed legs money shot that may have crossed the YOU'RE NOT AT HOME OR IN A BAR' line. So head for Club Med to wear anything or NOTHING AT ALL but no money shots, whether men or women, on duh plane!

How did they go too far?? They didn't remove her from the flight; they just asked her to cover up some. She complied, and the flight continued as scheduled, with her on it.

The airlines were well within their rights as a private business. Like any other business, they have the right to determine what is and what is not appropriate on their property.

The airline simply asked her to raise her top so that it covered more, and pull down her skirt when she sat. (Which makes it seem as though her top was much lower than current pictures indicate. While the skirt seems decent when she stands, it's practically nothing when she sits down--which is the position she would be in throughout the flight.)

She doesn't have a right to sue them, and she's wasting her time and money on a lawyer.

To the person who asked if SW would remove a guy for "sagging?' They don't often get as far as the aircraft.

Some kid was sagging his pants at the counter for the airline my wife works for, and the cops told him to pull them up. He refused (punk kid), and by the time the cops were done with him, his flight was long gone, and he didn't fly out until the next day, properly attired.

For all of you saying Southwest was in the wrong. I would like to point out a few things I have noticed. I have seen the pictures of what this 'lady' was wearing. It looked all nice and neat when she sat up nice and proper. What I would like to know is: how was she sitting when the other passenger noticed how much was showing? How much was showing? She works at Hooters and is attractive. I know that some women don't wear panties. Was she? If only 1 person complained, how many others wanted to but couldn't because they are men? Would this woman have complained if these men tried to sneak a peek up the short skirt?

Southwest did the right thing and handled it very well all the way through.

mo2dajizzo
You ought to able to see that all of this is nothing more than a "stunt" for a little bit of fame. And she might "get paid" too.

But SouthWest had better get those camera's out so that people can see exactly how she was wearing those clothes. I know they didn't pull her off of the plane with her skirt looking like that. She must have had it raised higher to get the attention she needed to follow-through on her plans.

And I'm not player-hatin', I'm just sick and tired of people trying to get over by using bogus lawsuits, which is what she's really trying to do.

She was hoping she would get a "negative" response from that company because it would help her plans.

Pay attention. You'll see.

Sweet n Sour
I just watched the girl on the news on TV. When she was standing up, all of the reporters were saying the skirt was not too short, she just looked darling. Then she sat down, and right there on TV I could see her underwear. That is too short! Other people paid for tickets on that flight, and most don't want to see that. It's exhibitionism. They let her on the plane as soon as she agreed to cover up with a blanket when she sat down.

Also, the news reporters talked about how she was in great shape, looked nice, so why shouldn't she wear a mini skirt? So what if a large woman wanted to wear it, should she not be allowed? At what weight can you not wear the skirt? 150 pounds, 175 pounds, 220 pounds? Will there be scales at the boarding place to see if you are thin enough to wear a mini skirt?

And what if it were a man who wanted to wear a short skirt? Would he be denied on basis of his gender?

It's a reasonable thing, in my opinion, to be able to look at a person and say if their dress is offensive to most people also flying on that plane. Her skirt was too short, and it was offensive to reasonable people.

I think that it is a businesses right to decide what is acceptable to them. I mean some businesses have a "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service" policy. A business reserves the right to serve and not serve who they please. Southwest was right in the fact that, that is their decision. If you don't like the fact that they don't allow that on their aircraft fly someone else. It's that simple. They weren't discriminating by age, race, gender or religion. So Southwest Airlines didn't not break any laws. They were practicing their legal right. It's irrelevant that people in schools dress that way they have a right to their own standard. Such as restaurants requiring a Coat and Tie. The movie star argument is also fairly weak since NONE have ever flown Southwest. It's an all coach carrier what movie star would fly coach. And it doesn't matter what the people before them have done as you well see in the link I posted. A business does not have to have a dress code to enforce one. Laws do not regulate any of a businesses regulations regarding to dress code as long as they aren't an OSHA violation. Half these people are speaking from what they think is right and not what is legal. Law does not regulate businesses right to refuse customers based on dress OSHA aside.
