do they just check the license ... photo against passenger...or do they actually run you dl number... what is important on the drivers license is what I'm asking..
I have this 12 hour flight coming up. I have flown often, but I never seem to sleep! Then I have jet-lag. What can I do to sleep? How can I make it comfortable so I am able to sleep a good 4-5 hours?...

Planes try to avoid hail-producing clouds at all costs.
Only thunderstorms can produce hail, and these clouds are extremely dangerous for a plane to be flying through or even below them, mainly because of the windsheer.
If a plane is unavoidably stuck in a hail storm, it can be beaten up VERY badly, but the wind is the most dangerous element. Hail is produced by extremely strong winds blowing UPWARDS and Downwards. A given hail stone might fall 10,000 feet and then be sucked 30,000 feet straight up and then fall again and be sucked back up again. A plane would not fare very well when the wind is doing that.

They just bounce off the plane without causing any significant damage to the aircraft in flight. The speed of the aircraft is too high for hailstones to hit and make any significant marks. Within a few minutes the aircraft will either land on the airport or fly higher than the clouds causing hailstones, depending upon whether its landing or taking off.

it can't happen as the plane is above the clouds hence above the source of the hail. If the hail happens as the plane descends its strong enough that it won't be a problem.

you would be above he clouds in no tim atall so you wont hae the hailstones hitting the plain anyway
but hen you are below the clouds they are too small to even feel them

The plane should be above the clouds which is always sunny and no place for hailstones. If hailstones fall during takeoff or landing, the plane will be delayed.

Many planes have been damaged by hail while they were sitting on the ground. When in flight they avoid the huge cumulous nimbus clouds that typically have anything like hail in them. the leading edges of wings and the like are pretty tough and are unlikely to be damaged by hail even if they did fly through them.

I landed at Calgary during a thunderstorm with hail. It was a bit bumpy but nothing was wrong with the plane. I'm confident they're safe to fly in.

yea its basically like being in a car only stronger, the sides of the plane and windshields etc are all tested against the worst case scenarios...no need to panic
