The airline changed my flight so that I have to leave 10 hours earlier. What are my options?

They changed my flight on Dec. 27th from 4pm to 6am. Can they do this? Anyone that has worked for an airline, I would love your advice! I highly doubt that on the weekend after Christmas they are only offering one flight. What are my options here. I want to stay on the original flight but I can't tell if it is still there or just booked.

Without all the details, your best bet is to contact the airline and see what your options are. Sometimes, flights are permanently canceled (taken out of the airlines routing) and so they have to put everyone on other flights. With all the cutbacks going on right now, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case. If there is now only 1 flight per day, your options might be limited. If you give us more details regarding your flight (airline, to/from), we may be able to help you more!!

Look up flights you'd rather have with them, or alliance partners if possible, then call and say you've had an involuntary reschedule and have some other flights you've found. That usually does the trick when I've had this.

It could be anything from change of aircraft type or change of flight schedules (specially around the busiest time of the year) or even added extra flights on because of the busyness..

Dude spirit airlines just did this to me last week! I called them and they said that they could change it but they would have charged me more money. I was pissed and said that i didn't pay for this flight i payed for my other one!

I guess air travel isn't the same as it was. Now they get you mad even before you flight with them!!

Last year Thai Air changed my flight details due to a maintenance issue with the plane. they offered to move me to a subsequent flight free of charge.

It is written in their T & C's that the Airline has a right to alter times and dates I believe.

It never hurts to call and try to change it back or to a more convenient time. Delta changed my original flight on December 27 and gave me a layover that was only 18 minutes. I called them once i noticed this and told them that layover is way to short and would put me at huge risk of missing my connecting flight and leave me stranded. Thankfully they understood and gave me a whole new Itinerary. Give it a try!!

Call the airline and ask them to change your reservation to something more suitable. Without knowing which airline and where from/to it's difficult to advise you what the options are.

I think (im not sure though) that you can call them and change it to a better flight. Airline tickets are contracts, you have maintained your side of the deal, but they have broken it. You should not have to pay anything to have them change it.

It is possible that the weekend after Christmas there is flight reductions. Believe it or not, Christmas is not nearly as busy as Thanksgiving as all the different religions out there celebrate their own version of it at different times.

I personally have no idea why they did that, but I've seen circumstances like this before and here is why we moved people to different flights. A.) Your airplane could have been swapped leaving you with a smaller plane on that original flight and certain people had to get moved. B.) That flight number is cancelled and they are scrambling to move people around.

I don't think it's oversold. They oversell flights all the time and they pretty much have it down to a science on how much they can oversell it by. You have to call them. The reservation agent probably won't know though. Usually the only people who will know are the agents who work at the originating station.

So I would call the airline's 1-800 Number and get them to get me the local number for that airline. Then you can get to the bottom of it. And if you need them to move you to another flight, they can take care of all of that for you too!
