Only take a flight that is one hour or less that is enough time for a person to overcome their fear of flying you would be up just long enough to have achieved your goal so you could come to Ireland 55 mins from Heathrow to Dublin that is what i did and once i got going the fear subsided and do not take a window seat that is only for the experienced ,go on and believe me when i did anyone would and good luck . |

I'm not entirely sure where most of those locations are in relation to you - but from my experience with travel in Europe -either Ireland or France would be short flights.
If you're afraid of flying, I would avoid anything that has to go over the Alps, only because it's naturally a more turbulent flight.
Have you ever flown before? I personally find that longer flights are easier because once you're up in the air you kind of forget where you are and what you're doing.
My sister was terrified of flying and just flew for the first time in 15 years to visit me a few months ago and she's flying back this weekend because she liked it so much. Hopefully forcing yourself to fly a bit will help you get over the fear! |

Jersey is very nice. The flight takes about 45 minutes, so it's ideal as a 1st flight. |

If you live in the South-West there's no need to fly, especially if you want to go to the Channel Islands. There are ferries from Poole, Portsmouth and Weymouth. The Sea-Cat is very quick I think only about two and a half hours.
You could transfer to Alderney or Sark from Jersey or Guernsey, which would have to be by boat. If you want to go to France then ferries run from Portsmouth and also Plymouth to Roscoff. The tunnel only takes about 35 minutes, but you would have a long drive from the South-West to Folkestone.
Google Ferries or Channel tunnel to get all the details.
If you really want to conquer your fear of flying then the Channel Islands may be a good idea since I believe the flight is less than an hour. It's really not as scary as you think! I have a fear of heights, but flying doesn't bother me because you are enclosed. |

you could drive to the lake distcrict, its lovely, or you can take a train from waterloo straight to disney land paris, or cultural paris, depending on what you want to see. Take the eurostar from dover in the car across, or the ferry and drive to germany, belgium, france, the possibilites are endless! alternatively I think flights to endinburgh only take an hour or two. And there's always wales or ireland.
But remeber! More people are killed each year by donkeys that plane crashes.....
Sooooo....... AVOID DONKEYS!!!! |

If you don't like flying then what is the difference between getting on a plane for a 45 minute flight or an 8 hour flight?Personally I prefer to be in a big full up heavy old jumbo jet flying long distance than some pokey little hopper plane.
If you want a quick flight then look to Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels.
Channel Islands are alright - but pricey and full of old fogies. |

the doctors. you will be just as scared thinking about an hours flight as you would be thinking about a 3 or 4 hour flight. the doctor can give you something that will help. |
