The only time being on a plane was scary was when I was about to jump out of it...I'm a skydiver. However, that was only the first 3 or 4 times.

The first time i flew I was a very young child. I have been flying all of my life. Think about it this way, you have a much better chance of being killed in your CAR. Unless of course you don't drive. However, plane crashes generate more media interest. If you really want to be safe, you could stay in your home, not drive, not fly, not walk across the street (you could get run over) and have your food delivered to you. Even then, your house could be broken into and you can be killed. So, even in your house you are taking a risk. Get my point?

it was fine, i still get kinda jittery, but it's ok. the food is the scariest part.

It is not as bad as you think. It's actually more likely for you to die in a car accident than an plane crash so don't worry. I've flown a lot, to Jamaica and back, Cuba and back, Florida and back, to Germany, from Germany to Paris, from Germany to another place in Germany, and then from that second Germany place back to here (Toronto). I personally, love taking trips on planes, I wish I could get everywhere like that. A few tips for take-off and landing. The change in air pressure as you rise and descent can make your ears pop so be prepared for that. Chew gum, it definetly helps, and hum Ariel's song from The Little Mermaid (you know the one, the one she's singing when Ursula takes her voice). Although I've never experienced it, and I get sick to my stomach all the time, a lot of people get nauseous on planes so be ready for that too, having gravol in your carry on is a good idea. In general, don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine. And have fun on your trip!

Flying on a plane can make some people nervous. However, I absolutely love to fly. The planes are so large and safe and statistically speaking- you are more likely to get injured or killed going to the airport than actually flying. Flying is the safest mode of travel. The take off is an exhilerating rush, and once your up, it feels like you're riding on air ;)...I would advise, if it's a long flight, to take your shoes off once you get settled. Try to get a window seat, so that you can see the cloudes and a whole new perspective on the earth as you have never seen it before. You will be amazed at what's below-- and you'll be so high up that you won't be able to see cars or people on the ground. Just the landscape- awesome! Take something to read or something to keep you occupied and just have fun!

I flew for the first time when I was 22. I didn't think it was scary at all. It was actually pretty boring and noisy. it is basically like riding on a bus.

Take along something to do, like a few magazines or a good book, and maybe some music and the trip will be fine.

Think about this... Hundreds of thousands of planes takeoff and land every day with no issues.

You see auto accidents every day, but you will ride in a car?

Relax. you will be on a long flight. Take a good book or a portable dvd player with headphones to take your mind off the flight.

Statistically speaking, air travel is still the safest means of transportation.

Just get ready for some pulling and pushing by the gravity when the plane climbs or accelerate. However modern jets nowadays are very stable and you don't need to worry a thing.

If you will be flying from a major airport, I think this is scarier than the actual flight. I fly from Hartsfield-Jackson often and they are constantly changing the process and where you should go so it takes even longer because you have to search for everything. The thought of missing your flight when you are on a deadline is scary in itself. Give yourself ample amount of time because Australia is on an international flight so it will be a longer fly time. Turbulence can get scary. Just breath through it. Put on your seat belt. When I feel nervous about the turbulence, I just look out the window at the beautiful clouds we're riding through or the beautiful oceans beneath us. It's very relaxing. I do a lot of international flights from the US to Europe so I'm used to it. Most of the flight attendants are willing to help you so this makes it easier. Flying is really not that bad. I like it. Good luck!

My first time on a plane was pleasant. It was an hour flight to New Orleans and i had fun. I've since flown to several places including Hawaii and LA. Planes are fun.

titobk74
you will love it. I fly all the time and it is the safest form of travel out there. Look at how many planes take off and land every day around the world and how many crashes do you hear about? very few. If you can get a window seat, I would suggest one. FLying during day light is great because you can see everything, the clouds, its really pretty. If flying at night, you can look down and see city lights. YOu will enjoy it, I promise. If you are that freaked out about it, see if your mom or dad will take you to get a valium or something that you can take before you board the plane. I have never had a bad flying experience and I have probably been on 50 planes or more in my life time. You will absolutely LOVE it. Make sure you bring some magazines, a gameboy or something to keep you occupied if its a long flight. DOnt stresss and dont listen to people's horror stories. They are just trying to scare you. I hope you have a great time! :o)
