Don't be nervous because...well, if you're scared about the engine breaking down or something, don't be. Because I know for a fact that each plane must spend three days in it's dock before it could fly again. So obviously it's been checked up pretty well. Hope that helps. |

Let me start by reassuring you that flying is just about the safest form of transport there is i personally have flown many many miles all over the world and have never yet had the slightest problem except for a few minor delays all the crew have to very strict training and are only aloud to work a set amount of hours this in particular applies to the Pilot co pilot and flight engineer my advice is take a good book with you explain to the stewardess that you are nervous they will help you a lot remember that you are not the first person they have had on their flight who is nervous you will find them very help full |

There's countless reasons to not be afraid about flying.
I've written an article about fear of flying a while back where I for example also explain what exactly turbulence is and why don't have to be afraid of it. It is true; flying is one of the safest forms of transport, read the article in the link below and you'll probably feel better about it!
Have a good and calm flight :) |

Ok i know how stressful it can be my girlfriend used to be terrified of flying so i brought her a lucky teddy thing lal and she takes it whenever she flies. Anyway try getting dragged in by a good book or an Ipod, or try sitting next to someone who can reassure you that there is no problem. I would of suggested booze if you didn't say your young.
It is more likely to crash in your car driving to the airport than actually crashing or w/e in a plane. |

Maybe some calming aromatherapy? Like lavender or chamomile oils or even in tea form. They sell aromatherapy options in most homeopathic stores or apothecaries. They have all natural remedies for a variety of ailments, including nervousness or anxiety. It's not medication and it has helped me in the past! Good luck and have a safe trip! |

try to get engrossed in reading a book, then you will forget were you are. |

I remember my first time on an airplane....I was scared as heck and almost started crying. But what kept me together was the fact that I was really looking forward to where I was going! I was thinking, "Wow, this is kind of freaky...but once it's over with it will be SO worth it!"
If you are not going somewhere exactly 'fun' think of the plane trip as an awesome experience in itself! You get to see the world from so high up and you feel like you can practically touch the clouds. If you get nervous when you are boarding the plane, close your eyes for the takeoff and don't open them until you are at the cruising height.
Also try listening to some music, something that you really like or something kind of peppy and upbeat. That really helped me a lot ;)
Good luck and happy travels!!! |

Just take something to distract you music or books/mags.
If it is long haul you will have in flight entertainment provided.
Also let the flight attendants know you are nervous ,they are trained to deal with situations, and will put you at your ease....
Enjoy your flight,,,there really is nothing to be afraid of,,, |

Well if you ever get nervous on a flight get up and walk around a bit it will make you feel better you can also try to sit in a window seat by a wing. Airline employees say that if you are nervous look outside at the wings and you will feel much better. You could also bring an i pod and that will usually take your mind off whatever you are thinking about |

I am afraid of flying on a plane as well. For no particular reason either....which seems strange to me. I'm flying a plane to Alberta, Canada next year with my sweetie. I plan to meditate & think positive thoughts of the plane trip. How exciting to fly! I kind of can't wait. I plan to bring my emergency bag with me though. All my favorite magazines, playing cars, my mp3 music player...with calming music to keep me from freaking! Ha Ha! As well as some good Rock & Roll. And enough Junk Food (if they'll let me sneak it on) Also an excellent traveling companion! Nothing like having someone to travel with you that is fun to be with! Before you know it the plane trip is over....YAHOOOOO! |
