no
it has to go in the main hold

DeeDee
No, it has to go in your hold luggage, and when you check your case in tell them it's in there!!

Nocturnal creature
I'm assuming the straighteners are electrical? If so, there is no reason why they can't be carried in your hand luggage, so long as the bag dimensions are within the airport security's guidelines. Check the policy of the airport security for the airport you are flying out of, either by contacting the airport direct or on-line at: www.dft.gov.uk. Enjoy your hols.

I think as long as you take them out of your hand luggage as you go through security, so they can see what they actually are, it shouldn't be a problem.
I recently flew out to Cyprus, on Thomas Cook, carrying a car battery charger!! I didn't have any luggage, only hand luggage! So, I wrapped it in clear plastic, so that it could be seen clearly, but I also put a label on it just in case it was put in the hold....but there didn't seem to be a problem, they barely even looked at it.
Might depend on where you're flying from, and how strict their security is!! We were flying out of Birmingham airport. You could always ring airport information...they're usually quite helpful

It will have to go in your main luggage, and don't forget the foreign plug adaptor, depending on what country you are going to.
