Virgin or Continental airlines?

Hi I am taking a flight from Uk to Newark (new york) just wondering the opinion which is better?
I am a nervous flyer and continental use a boeing 757-200 where virgin use an airbus 340-600or300 on this route
Which would i feel happier in? and also how do you put in the time on a 7 hr flight?
Also is it safe terrorism wise flying out of Heathrow is the security tight now?

I am a nervous flyer too and getting on any plane, regardless of airline, is quite stressful. What i look for is a good entertainment system to keep me occupied for the many hours. Due to this, i rate Virgin very highly. I have flown with them on many occasions and although the nerves never disappear, i have found that the flights go by very quickly as there are so many channels of entertainment, movies and games.
In regards to security, it's always been tight at Heathrow so i wouldnt worry about terrorism.
Hope you enjoy your flight, regardless of which airline you choose to go with.

It's as safe now as it's always been, if not safer because of the tighter regulations - you're more likely to be hit by a bus or get killed in a car accident than be involved in a plane crash or plane-related terrorism.

And personally, I'd go with Virgin - they're a better airline, regardless of the plane type.

I can recomend Virgin.
I have gone with them a number of times and will now only fly with them.

I would go with Virgin. My clients vastly prefer them. Continental is great, but Virgin is really amazing. As far as what to do, there will be movies on board. Bring a book. Sleep, though I dont sleep too much, so you will adjust to the time change. Enjoy your flight! Its safe as houses, even safer.

I have flown with Virgin, and found them great.

In my opinion, security is so tight at airports now, whoever you choose to fly with you should feel safe.

Have a good flight.

Take Virgin Atlantic. Their 747's are better, but the 757's are just not worth it. I've flown with Virgin before, and they're a wonderful airline (except for the fact that they're only getting Airbuses instead of Boeings). I would normally recommend taking a 757 (that is my favorite plane), but for such a long trip, the larger aircraft is better.
However, you may want to know that Virgin and Continental do codeshares, so even if you are on Virgin, you may end up on a Continental aircraft.
Have a good trip!

Having flown Continental, I am amazed that some people would recommend them. I wouldn't and would never fly with them again. I have flown Virgin a few times and find them reliably good.

If you are tall and like being crammed into a seat then fly Virgin, I haven't flow Continental for years but they used to be good.
Virgin are not all they are cracked up to be, they used to have lots of leg room and good food and up to date entertainement systems but they are now just like flying a charter airline, not the sheduled they make themselves out to be.

You will never be safe from terrorism - but you have to continue with your life otherwise they have the upper hand

Hmm.. Both Virgin and Continental are a good airline. I flew with both of them. About Continental and Virgin: It is cheaper than Virgin. It is because you are going to Newark, which is one of their biggest hub airport. Also, they using older airplane. Boeing 757-2oo is older than Airbus 340-600 or 300. And Also, Boein 757-200 IS Medium size airplane. Virgin overall have a better in-flight food and entertainment. The have nicer cabin, its not out of dated like continental. When you see the ticket price between those two, you'll know why. But for the service, continental is better. Their flight attendent are more welcome, especially on the international flight.
So, im Assuming that this is your first flight? If thats the case, I would recommend you to take Virgin. Because they have more entertainment than continental, and their airplane Airbus 340-600 is longer and bigger (it could carry about 340 passengers, where Boieng 757 only can carry 228 max.) So during those bad weather, Airbus would be smoother.
About terrorism, you don't have to worry. Americans and British airport securities are very tight. They will search for everything. You can't even bring a bottle of shampoo for your carrie on bag thing. So don't worry. When you get to the airport, you'll see why i said you don't have to worry. Especially when you are in the American Airports. Hehe.
Alrighty, Enjoy your flight.

Which is cheaper??? Well if you're worried about somehow being booked off your flight or something Contintal has a hub in Newark and it'd be easier if you wanted to switch earlier/later. But overral I think you should choose Virgin.

*I travel Continental a lot so I'd pick it Cont. because I could probably upgrade or something, but If you dont just go with VIRGIN.

I have flown both and would recommend Continental.

BTW, if you book Continental on some routes you end up being flown on a Virgin plane.

Newark (NY) has a large area devoted to Continental -
Enroll in the Continental One Pass before you buy your ticket.
