I don't know why are these people are putting 1% it is nowhere near that much. If it was one percent, you'd have like 30 major plane crashes a day, just in the U.S. alone.

A few websites claim 1 in 11 million. Statistically, if you flew once a day every day for 15000 years, you would probably crash at some point.
Those look like good odds.
The 5% and 1% guesses are grossly, grossly overestimated.
EDIT: those statistics refer to commercial aviation. General aviation is, in fact, much more dangerous than driving. You are about 10x more likely to crash a plane in general aviation than a car. |

but don't get caught up in all that, you either do or don't crash, what does it matter, what is meant to happen will happen regardless of what you do. you could get in a bus, car, train wreck.
you could fall and die of a brain aneurysm. there are a million things but you can't let that stop you from getting out of bed. |
