Into a tank first, where it is stored. Most of it is emptied by a lav service crew, but sometimes some of it is released during flight. The tank is filled with Blue Juice (yes the proper term is blue juice) that decomposes all the paper and waste products. The tank is supposed to be emptied and refilled with fresh blue juice on every landing.
