You are not allowed to have: box cutters, nail clippers, lighters, knives, forks, anything flammable, anything that could puncture skin or break bones, liquids over 3 oz. I would also not bring anything important to you - sometimes they lose your baggage and airports are very crowded places.
You should bring: i-pod, magazines, books, drawing pad, pencils, colored pencils, a nice pillow, blanket (I know they supply them on the plane, but they are actually quite disgusting), journal, camera, video recorder, card games, mini-board games.
Bare necessities: wallet, makeup, cell phone (but you can't use it)
Checked baggage: extra clothes, pajamas, hygenic necessities

On must airlines you can take with you your laptop, portable games systems (e.g. PSP) Ipod/MP3 player, Cd player etc. You will need to switch them off for both Take Off and Landing but at any other time in the air you can have them on providing you have any Wi-Fi feature switched off.
On the other hand you can tuck yourself into a good book, read the newspaper/magazine, do word search in a puzzle book etc.
As for liquids you can take liquids in your hand luggage providing they are in a bottle of less than 100ml and that all your liquids fir into a sealable clear plastic bag about the size of a medium freezer bag. Of course there are acceptions such as liquid baby food (e.g. Milk) for which you will need to taste and liquid medicine for which you will need a copy of your presciption from your GP.
Once you are through sercurity, with the exceptions of flights to the States you are permitted to take on board liquids above 100ml which you purchased in the duty free shops |
