LAX-CDG-LAX. First Class. This was the old configuration on the 777 and our first flight with Air France. The Northwest lounge at LAX was a disapointment. Dirty bathroom, OK drink selection, very limited snacks. The boarding experience was terrific with a dedicated line for first class passengers to use during the entire boarding process. My partner and I both felt truly welcomed aboard. The FA's were attentive, taking our coats, bringing amenity kits and offering sleepwear. A glass of champagne offered at which time the captain came back from the cockpit and stopped to greet all the passengers in first. The cabin was showing its age, but was clean. The meals were superlative, as were wines. Movie selections were good but limited. It would have been nice to have a library from which to choose. FA's made up our beds while we changed. We appreciated the over-size restroom. I got up during the night to use the restroom and upon exiting a FA offered me a bottle of Perrier. I bring this up because we never felt deserted after meal service as some reviews have suggested. The return flight was equally as good. The lounge much better, with real food and a wider selection of beverages. The boarding procedure, however, was terrible. The CDG terminal is overcrowded and there is no line to stand in for boarding. The passengers just form a clump and it seemed as though everyone was pushing to get through at once. Great FA's and great meals again heading back to LAX. Would definitely fly them again - looking forward to trying the new first class.

LAX-ZUR-JNB and return in First: A340 on all legs though very long layover in Zurich. Lie flat seats are similar to those used in Thai first and very comfortable. A bonus is that FA's make bed for you and use a pad on the seat. This makes it one of the most comfortable sleeper seats around. Food is very good if you stick with the steak or fish. Some of the other dishes seem experimental and did not taste good. Interesting selection of wines but disappointing that they were not top shelf. Expected better quality. IFE actually worked flawlessly on all legs but selection of movies seemed limited in number and latest Hollywood trash. FA's were very professional and remembered your name and were fluent in a minimum of 3 languages. The FA's were professional even when a twit with a very smelly dog was arguing about flight safety procedures. First was a very comfortable way for over 30 hours of travel and would do it again.

F class MIA to FRA. Service was very good, as one would expect in F. Lie flat seats were very comfortable. IFE was awkward however. No AVOD, just in-seat tape players. Reception quality was very average to poor. Staff was very efficient, but typical LH chilliness. Food offerings ranged from superb (how can anyone argue with caviar (seconds offered to boot) and good French Champagne) to average for the main course. Where LH really stands out though is in its F class terminal. This was fantastic. Ultra modern and very inviting. Full meal service offered. Welcome shower in very sleek private facilities. And don't forget the escorted private car service to your next flight---made me feel very VIP. One criticism and one suggestion though. Availability of F terminal is not well communicated and therefore, it is very hard to know what to do to find it upon deplaning. Suggestion is to offer a pressing service so that while one is showering, cloths can be freshen up. I used this service when flying UAL into SFO and I found it most welcoming.

Dubai-Mauritius First Class. Excellent FA's and service despite the short flying time. Amazing new first class flat-bed suites aboard brand new B777-300ER equipped with big TV screen - ICE system and personal mini-bar. First and business class check-in lounge in Dubai extremely fast and convenient. I could see long economy class passengers for immigration and security checks. First class lounge comfortable. Good selection of cold and hot food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. I had dinner in the lounge as flight takes off late at night. Nevertheless, the shower room in the lounge was really uncomfortable: narrow, small and no amenity kit provided except shampoo and shower gel. Very basic shower room and disappointing. No separate lanes for premium and economy class passengers at the boarding gate. Very tiny waiting hall for free-limousine service from the airport. Isn't Dubai Emirates' hub? Overall, good experience with excellent cabin crew. Will fly with them again.

LHR-PLZ via JNB travelling First. What a wonderful experience. The product and inflight service provided in First is just wonderful. The turn down service, meal selection, crew attentiveness, beverage selection is just phenomenal. Only complaint is the inflight entertainment as it is old and movie selections are not that great.

Anyone who says Lufthansa over all others is on crack. Also, it's not all about the legroom (because seriously, at that point does having 90" of legroom versus 80" a big deal?) And, are we talking about international or domestic/regional? The BEST service is offered on international flights, so I'll stick with that.

OVERALL, in terms of seats AND service, the two perennial favorites are Cathay Pacific and Singapore. Their seats alone place them in the top 5, but their service, on-board and at the airport, are what sets them above all others. Always flight attendants, best meals, impeccable service on the planes and at the airports, terrific lounges at their home airports (HKG and SIN respectively).

Virgin Atlantic and Malaysian gets an honorable mention.

Basically any US airline does not have a good First Class product. The best ones are the asian carriers.

See SINGAPORE AIRLINES' for example.

i would personally recommened British Airways for flying First Class on long haul flights as they have ample of leg room, good customer service and your well looked after.

this is the only airline i use at all and i fly usually club class, first class, buisness or world traveller plus.

i would recommend them to anyone.
