What's the best, legitimate last minute/cheap airfare website?

I like http://www.Kayak.com for general searches, but for last-minute you should also check http://www.priceline.com

Priceline lets you specify a maximum price you're willing to pay for the dates you need and then they see if any airlines will bite. The catch is that you don't get to pick which airline.

Try kayak.com...I guess it's basically a search engine that checks all the sites at once. I used this for my last trip.

Not all travel providers offer the best solution in every situation around the world. to cut through the deals, you should check out http://www.travelcuse.com to book your trip. the site is an aggregator which means it takes offers from various online sites and shows you the best deals. good luck!

Lastminute.com is a good site and really easy to use. Hotels.com also does flights and cars, but sometimes not the best deals. Your best bet to start getting a feel for what you're looking at, pricewise, somewhere like mobissimo.com. It's a really thorough travel aggregator (travel aggregator = site that checks lots of other travel sites that such as hotwire, expedia, etc all at once). Some sites don't add in taxes and stuff in the price they show you, so get a final price to make sure you're comparing apples to apples. I just planned a weeklong trip to Disneyland and it took weeks of comparing. Airfare prices tend to go up the closer to your travel dates that you book. Search multiple websites and also remember sometimes you can get a better deal purchasing hotel and air separately rather than together.

If you're somewhat computer savvy (read: geek, not mouse potato) you can set up a nifty little spreadsheet that will keep track of the deals you find and running totals of package deals and separate items so you can see at a glance where you stand with your budget.

Most importantly, once you find something you think is the best deal, double check. If you find a Delta flight that is a good deal on priceline.com, jot down the flight numbers and hop on Delta.com. A lot of travel sites add on their own fees and taxes and you can save quite a bit. Saved myself almost $30 per person this way on our Disney trip.
