Wish I could get a flight for 2p. The least I have ever spent (not counting the use of frequent flyer miles) is $40 from Kansas City to St. Louis roundtrip. Southwest Airlines had just started service between the two cities and TWA matched the price. Now, Southwest is the ONLY airline that services this route.

Berne-Vienna 2 CHF tax included on airline Intersky in summer 2004. That's about $2 USD, or €1,50 currently.

There was this little start-up airlines a few years back, out of Detroit City Airport.. (Pro-Air) They were selling round-trip tickets to NYC for $88 plus tax.
I was a travel agent at the time, and they had a deal that for every 10 tickets a travel agent could sell, we could have a free ticket for ourselves.
i think I called every person in Detroit in the phone book.
I accumulated 16 free roundtrip tickets for myself and saw New York and the surrounding environs more times than I can count. and took everyone I knew there for a weekend if they would pay for the hotel....
Pro-Air went out of business, by the way

The cheapest flight I was ever on was 20 Euro round trip on Ryan Air from London to Killarney.

The cheapest in the US was $39 on Southwest from Chicago to Detroit round trip. I considered changing my flight plan on the Southwest flight, I would have cost me an extra $100! Hello, the entire trip costs $39, and changing the flight time costs $100?

There used to be an airline called Vanguard that had a route from Chicago to Des Moines -- $50. And if the flight was late, you'd get a $25 voucher for the next flight. They're not in business anymore.....

"I'm off to Dublin tomorrow, the return flight cost me tuppence! 2p no taxes or fees."

And with Ryanair, you largely get what you pay for.

That being said, the cheapest plane ticket I've ever purchased was back in late 2002, where I flew on British Airways between San Francisco and Frankfurt for $20 plus tax (or about $100 after tax) per ticket.
