Easy! Savusavu, Fiji!!!
We got on the little six-seater at Nadi airport in Fiji to fly over to Savusavu. Talk about a tight fight! No luggage compartment, that went in the back two rows of seats! Yuck!
But we flew over the Pacific and got to see the Fiji area from above, so that was nice...
Then we start to approach a larger Island... (Savusavu is on one of the two bigger islands in Fiji). The pilot says "We're going to land now" and I'm thinking... where's the airport?
We start heading towards this mountain...
I'm still thinking .... where's the airport?
There's a little building down there.
I'm thinking "where's the airport?"
The pilot puts the plane down on the "runway" that was -- not asphalt -- not gravel -- but mud. Yes, mud. A mud runway.
But he did it safely, so I guess they do that all the time.
Then we get off the plane and sink about six inches into the mud (no, no jetway here)... and we drag our own luggage over to the little building (mostly because it was the only place to go and it looked like it had solid ground under it).
And then we get there and the pilot says, "Your ride will be here soon." He jumps in the plane and flys back...
and we sit there... six strangers... looking at each other wondering what to do...
About an hour later, a car pulls up and we get to go.
It was a cross between "Gilligan's Island" and "Indiana Jones" !!
So the next time you're standing in line at Heathrow, or looking for a place to park at O'Hare, or walking from one terminal to another at LAX, or stranded in Scranton... just remember... if you want to sit down, it won't be in the mud!
I would have given all of my luggage to be in a crowded airport then!!! |

Paris's international airport...because its huge, hard to get around, to much security, and french people are generally not extrememly helpful to americans |

So far my worse experience at an airport was at Heathrow in London. I had a connection flight there with a 3 and a half hour layover, and for almost that entire time, I was standing in this super long line to get to the security checkpoint. Lot's of people around me lost their flights during this time, and it took over 2 hours for airport officials to start doing something for those who's flight's are near.
And after all of that, when I finally got to Amsterdam, it turned out that my, asn pretty much everyone else on the pane's lougage was left behind. |

For me it would be Chicago Midway, I have had the most delayed flights there, the most lost baggage, and it is uncivilized how people are all shoving eachother just to end up in the wrong terminal. Also they have the smallest baggage carousels, even Hector Int'l has bigger and Hector isn't even busy, I don't think people even know about it! |

I would say Chicago O'Hare, always busy, long waits at security and also missed flights becasue of long waits. |

The U.S. State Department has warned travelers that the airports in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and Abuja, Nigeria have the worst security measures in the world. Any terrorist can board a plane at those airports and the governments don't really give a damn about passenger safety. |

Larnaca on Cyprus.
It is tiny and crowded out of season, so when it gets full up with the drunks, chavs, and other ne'er-do-wells that come over to burn their bums and shag themselves stupid in Agia Napa, it is hell on earth.
...........and I'd like to say that Athens used to be awful - but the new airport is magnificent. Clean, spacious, well-designed and no problems with security or anything else. |

The airport in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
where can i begin?
First of all, after landing you basically have to race to the check point, so you will be one of the first people to actually start the whole process, other wise you will be late by 6 hours, then you go to the cashier, where you have to stand in an other line, then you go to passport control and it takes them about 20 minutes for each person, because they take all the info including towns you going to visit and people you are planning on meetting there. After you pass that, you go take you luggage, then carry the luggage throuhg the x-ray machine. Finally you get to the customs- and of course it take another 2 hourse to clear, because they open every suit case and turn it upside down, asking stupid questions, like what is that for or whats on this dvd etc... Some times it's better to just hide 50 dollars in the passport so they could take it discreetly and kind of go through your luggage, but make it a liitle bit easier on you and your belongings.
Well, usually you wouldn't want to go there, unless for work or family. |

Chicago O'Hare. Whether it's 4pm on the weekend before the 4th of July, or 4am on a Wednesday the airport is ALWAYS busy, and there is and 80% chance of you flight being delayed. |
