My daughter flew from Gatwick to Dullus USA on her own when she was 5 years old. She was handed over to staff on take off by my relatives and then handed over to me on landing. She loved it and back then (10 years ago) she was taken into the cockpit. She flew like a first class passenger . . . they couldn't f do enough for her. That was with Virgin . . . best airline in my opinion.

they all do.............we all know that

The minimum age limit is 14 years old. If you are any younger you MUST be accompanied by somebody. Also, most airlines, if not all go by this rule.

Reed
you can fly alone from the age of 14 from any airport

Depending on the airline. I think from 12+ you can fly alone but you need a letter from your parents or something.

Heather_Anime
all the airlines should let a teenager fly alone!!!

They will all have slightly different rules, so about 14 and you might be OK - you might have to be looked after by an airhostess when you get to the plane and leave it and be seen to meet a responsible or nominated adult at the other end (uncle, aunt, brother, whoever).

I think you will need to see which airlines fly direct from Newcastle to Exeter and e-mail them for their rules.

Failing that I think I remember that there was a direct train link from Newcastle to Exeter (takes about 7 hours). Going by air will take about 1 hour for the flight, 1 hour at either end to check in and collect bags, perhaps more to check in, plus you will need to allow more time in case they see a young solo traveller as a special case and need to do other things - so the train might not actually be that much longer travelling time!
