Singapore Airlines won best in-flight service in 2007. They are always in the top 3 when it comes to service and comfort level. Emirates and Cathay Pacific are also really great to fly on.

This is obviously suggestive; but as a well-seasoned traveler, I'll share my personal favorites:

For domestic flights, I love JetBlue. Their seats are wide and comfy, and their standard in-flight amenities make flying with them something I actually look forward to, versus my usual sense of dread with some carriers. Their fares are excellent and are frequently the lowest for some routes, but I like them so much that I've flown with them even when one of their competitors beat their price.

For international travel, I'm a die-hard fan of British Air. Their coach cabin services are better than first class on most other airlines! And their arrival and departure lounges are so wondrously comfortable and have such an array of services that it feels like you've checked into the a Ritz-Carlton at the airport!

Happy Travels!

Difficult Q as it depends where and to you fly, if you fly economy or economy plus, or business class.
In 20 year of travel meanly between Europe and Asia.
My favourite is Singapore Air as number one, Malaysian Air & Cataypacific come close together with Eva air (only economy plus). A trend that needs to be said is that the last 5 to 7 years the airlines from the middle east improved service wise a lot in specialy Ethiad air and Qatar air......

Routes between Europe and the US.....
Virgin Atlantic is good but less then any of the previous named . I even took a flight to New York once from Amsterdam with Singapore airlines the plane came in from Singapore was cleaned a new crew added and continued is journey... I just don't like the service on those American Carriers.

I've never been on a Japan Airlines flight, but I hear that the service is excellent.

I think I would say Cathay Pacific. Best i ever flew. Never ride Saudia Airlines AGAIN!!! ^_^

Generally, you get what you pay for...

If you expect a higher level of service, you will pay for that!

However, that is not to say that I haven't received an excellent level of service from low cost carriers.

It also makes a huge difference if you are flying Economy or Business, regular seat or wideseat, regular ammenities or upgraded...

It's a lot like comparing Apples and Oranges when it comes to features of the Aircraft. Various aircraft are often perceived differently, also. Single Aisle Aircraft are often perceived to be more confining than multi-aisle Aircraft.

It is the Flight Attendants who make or break an In-flight experience!
