What are Thomas Cook airlines like?

I am going to Marsa Alam in November and would like to know what the leg room is like on these planes. I've been to Egypt before on First choice airlines and found them terrible. I've only found one airline that has good leg room and that was Egypt Air.

Maybe this passenger opinions will help you ( from Skytrax):

Thomas Cook Airlines - by John Wilmott

Gatwick to Kalamata return. The worst legroom I have encountered in hundreds of flights. I have a pitiful 28in inside leg yet was still very cramped. This should not be legal. It wouldn't be so bad if TC set the seats so they couldn't recline on shorter-haul flights, as on the no- frills airlines. Then you are bombarded with the sales service offering perfume and scratchcards every few minutes so you can't even doze. Flights were only marginally delayed, though, and the plane seemed clean and modern.

London Gatwick to Antalaya. Seating extremely uncomfortable - legroom was abysmal. Impossible to comply with safety recommendation ie. to place feet flat on the floor in front of you. Will never travel with Thomas Cook again.

Thomas Cook Airlines - by Peter Sparrow

On a recent flight Minorca to Stansted, we found the level of onboard service and comfort the worst we have experienced in 30 years of airline travel. Where do they find their crews ? I was referred to as " Mate" by one young steward. My guest had coffee spilled on to his jacket which was totally ignored by the stewardess who simply giggled and walked away. If this is an example of the results of Thomas Cook training of cabin staff perhaps the management should look at the standards set by other low cost airlines.

Apparently the seat pitch on european flights is very poor, 29" Economy, 34" Premium Economy.

Generally all of the package holiday companies that are now offering flights, such as Thomas Cook, Thomson and First Choice, offer a very good service. I have flown these airlines on many longhual routes, including Canada and Mexico and have found them adequate.

You said you were also concerned about leg space, called Seat Pitch in the industry, I have included a link to some sites that provide this information for you.

I always use Thomas Cook Airline and although the leg room isn't that great, the cabin staff and safety aspects certainly make up for it. You can always request an extra leg-room seat, but of course, you have to pay a little bit extra for it. Happy flying!

very tight, max seats!

i have flown them on numerous times before. they have friendly crew, i would regard the legroom as average

Flew with First Choice to Egypt earlier this year - you are right, there is not much room at all. Flew to the canaries with Thomas Cook a couple weeks ago & was expecting the worse. However, I was quite suprised by the amount of leg room on offer. Whilst it's nowhere near the amount Egyptair give you, you certainly have a fair amount more room than First Choice do.

Thomas Cook are about the same as First Choice, sorry.

When I booked with Thomas Cooke, i flew Quantas. legroom was poor. if you can't afford first class, the dearer the airline the more legroom you usually have. you pay for comfort unfortunately.

Thomas Cook is just another brand in airline industry, they used to do traveler checks. I wish they stayed at checks. TC is a charter airline, low cost ... so what do you expect? Sit, fall asleep and wake up when hitting the runway!

Oh i went to marsa alam this year and i loved it!!Not very much to do there but if you just want a relaxing break then fantastic!!I also flew with Thomas cook and the leg room is pretty standard!Wasn't particularly cramped but i wouldn't say there was room to stretch ya legs out !!I hope you have a lovely time i wish i was going back there!!! x

arly barly
Leg room you are going to struggle- they are LESS than first choice airlines at about 28- 29 inches so if you are over six foot it will be a bit of a squeeze! They are a typical short haul carrier and only use the bigger planes for their long haul journeys.

They are pretty much the same as any other airline, ie- thomson, first choice, monarch, mytravel.
