Sleep, pick out fun things to buy from SkyMall magazine, crayons and a coloring book, portable DVD player with movies, eat, give nicknames to your copassengers and invent life stories for them, crossword puzzles, connect the dots, thumb wars with the person seated next to you, write a story or poem, count to one million, say "Whee!" every time you hit some turbulence, practice your Spanish, ask to see the cockpit, join the Mile High Club...have fun!

You could play spot the terrorist. Just look around you and see if anyone on your flight fits the profile developed by the Homeland Security Force.
Don't let anyone know you're playing because you might get in trouble.
By all means, don't interfere with the flight crew. That is a felony.

work on your spanish
sleep
doddle
chew gum (otherwise your ears won't pop, it hurts)
there might be an in-flight movie so that could keep you entertained
try and sit next to the window and then look out it
video games
cards if you're going with someone
have fun on the plane!!

You already caught the best one: reading.

Decide well ahead of time what you might prefer, then take a book or two with you and read.

You really should get up and walk around every hours or so to keep the joints from getting stiff. This should be done by everyone, but more often if you are older, because it eases blood flow in the legs and keeps the joints working without pain.

Different airlines and tour operators treat their passengers differently, but most aircraft today have on-board movies and other entertainment options in the form of music selections.

Some aircraft are equipped with screens mounted on the back of every seat, and they may have interactive games, like Playstation, and each passenger can choose his/her own movie from the playlist and hear it on the earphones.

Ask your tour operator or airline what aircraft is scheduled to carry you and what facilities are available.

I'm going on a nineteen hour plane trip soon, and with stops and checking in / out, the total time is twenty eight hours!

But, on one of my older experiences, I flew from one side of the US to the other, and it was five hours. The first hour or so always flies by, because you'll be looking around, etc. But then onward is when it starts to get boring.

Bring along crosswords. Yeah, they can be boring sometimes, but just sitting there doing nothing isn't either. Do harder ones because they can keep you occupied longer.

Bring a handheld gaming system, like PSP or DS. Buy challenging games that you've never played before, because they'll be more intriguing.

If you booked with the right airline, they will have many features. Some seats have a TV above, where you can watch some TV. Your airline's website is sure to have a listing of channels.

Draw pictures, heh, but be prepared for some awkward stares. ;)

Bring a journal, observe the things around you, write down thoughts, stories, etc.

Play games. Bring travel games, they would be sold at local retailers, like chess. You could play cards, or 'try' to make a tower with them.

Sleep; if all else fails.

Good luck, have a nice flight!
