Weight and size depend on airline and class, but generally you can carry on one bag up to 8 kilos and up to 55cms long (I think the dimensions are around 45cm x 55cm x 35cm). In it, you can take along Ipods, cameras and the like. Liquids you can take 1 litre total, which much be divided up into bottles of 100ml or less and packed in a clear plastic zip-lock bag or similar so that they can be inspected. This does not include essential medicines which you can of course take - if you need to take insulin or epipens or anything like that, take a letter from your doctor. Also does not include baby milk, which is in addition to your allowance.

You are now allowed to take nail files, fingernail clippers (not scissors) and tweezers in your carry-on. You can now take disposable cigarette lighters but not matches.

You can take "non-liquid" cosmetics in addition to your liquid allowance like lipstick, liquid eyeliner, compact (cream) eye shadow or foundation. Apparently, they still class lip gloss in a tube as "liquid" so check before you pack.

What you cannot take is: firearms, open razorblades (i.e. not in a cartridge), other sharp objects, certain chemicals and aerosols, biological matter (germs and stuff), explosives (inc fireworks) or illegal drugs. You can only carry alcohol (to drink) if you have bought it in duty free (but even then you are not allowed to drink it in-flight).

This is for flights departing from any city in Europe to anywhere else in the world (with possible exception of the USA). Rules for travellers to and from the USA are slightly stricter, I believe; rules for travellers from other countries are generally more relaxed (i.e. travelling back to Europe recently I dididn't have to bother with putting my shampoo and mouthwash into tiny bottles!

Currently the restrictions are being focused on liquids and gels. I would suggest that you go right to the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of what you can bring on the aircraft with you in both your checked and carry on luggage. They also tell you if you are traveling with the 3oz. or less liquids in your carry on luggage that they must be packed in a 1qt. ziplock bag.

Hi, still limited on fluids, toiletries up to a max of 100ml, no sharps, aerosols or anything dangerous. They are fussy about weight too, not sure what it is though.you can't take drinks through security but you can buy them on the other side. don't know any more, hope it helps.

tubbyswife
Not too sure as it keeps changing. Have a look on ba.com they should have the info on there.

You need to ask the airline you are flying with as they may have different rules.

nicg
Look up the website of the airline you're travelling on.
Generally they have restrictions on liquids still, having to carry them in clear bags and little bottles etc. Depends on the company and destination.

They are a bit more relaxed now

Liquids are the only thing that they are hot on, no liquids unless they are prescribed medicines or less than 10ml

Baby milk already made up in bottles but you have to taste it, they will allow drinks bought in departures onto the plane as long as the seal has not been broken and you have the reciept...(that was with virgin) some airlines are not as strict

theburlaces
check tsa.com for current guidelines but they are being very strict with liquids right now, you can use a small ziploc bag and any liquids you are taking on board have to fit into ONE small ziploc and must be smaller than 4 oz. (travel size containers)
