What can I claim for a cancelled flight, not arriving until the next day and bags not delivered for 9 hours?

Check your insurance policy. It will tell you if you are entitled to any compensation. If it is not clear phoe them up and ask them. Need to do it as soo as possible though

u can claim only if it is the airline fault otherwise if it is a security or weather delay or any other act og "god" u can claim nothing

You will find you're not really entitled to anything. If as you say your flight was cancelled to the next day, it would be classed as a prolonged delay not a cancellation. A cancellation is when your flight no longer operates and you will be rerouted on via another means.
In this Instance (and also that of a cancellation) your airline is legally required to cover your expenses in terms of meals and hotels. (they also have to provide you with a phonecall to inform those necessary of your late arrival)

The airline is not responsible for any other compesation as per eu regulations.

with regards to your baggage, again, the airline is not legally responsible to provide comensation unless technically lost (ie 7 Days missing) most airline however will provide you with some form of monitary allowance to enable you to purchase items necessary until your bags arrive.

Any other expenses that arise should be reclaimed from your travel insurance.

Probably nothing but it depends on whey the flight was delayed for so long. You have to read the small print (terms) for the fare you purchased.

The luggage usually has to be completely lost or delayed for more than 24 hours I think. Check with the airline what their policy is. Some airlines compensate people even though they don't have to legally. At least you won't get nothing withou asking.

Probably nothing, although you might try calling airline customer service though and telling them about your experience and how you will not fly this airline again, unless you really want to wait until next day and not get your bags for 9 hours again. They should of taken care of your hotel stay and food, but depends on what the cancellation was for, weather, forget it because it is an ACT OF GOD, mechanical, airlines fault. Good luck.

You didn't say why the flight was cxld, weather? Broken aircraft? And were your bags delayed because they were rerouted? Left off the plane? Did you change planes? Without knowing why, your question is hard to answer.

Not Ecky Boy
Sounds like a fairly typical experience and I'd be surprised if you can claim any form of recompense.

the airline who you got the original tickets from but I wish you good luck its a long shot....

Depends on the airline policy and the reasons those things happened.

Write them a complaint letter and they'll send you something back - how much will depend on a lot of things. The main thing will be the reasons for the cancellations/delays. If it's weather or a security alert or somesuch out of their control, you won't get much. Probably a voucher as a 'gesture of good will' or something. If they totally screwed up you might do quite a bit better.

1) This depends in the insurance policy which you have taken in the first place.

2) If the delay was caused by the airline then you were primarily entitled for overnight accomodation in a hotel, or if you live nearby you were entitled for free transport from / to airport (both ways).

3) If you live in the EU and you were travelling within the EU, there are EU regulations and rights for the traveller. Look up at the following site : - http://europa.eu/scadplus/leg/en/s13004.htm

Good Luck and fight for your rights!!
