I had the same fear when I had to get on a plane for the first time. It really isnt that bad. Once your up in the air, you dont notice it at all. Bring an MP3 player along if you have one. Any magazines or books. Anything really to keep you occupied. Remember to bring some gum. It helps with the pressure so your ears dont pop. If your sitting at the window, try not to look out when taking off. Taking off is almost like being in a rollercoaster. Your body gets pushed back into the seat and you feel a bit heavy. When landing, it almost feels like your being lifted off your seat. Its not that noticable once your flying more, but the first time you'll notice it. Just relax and you'll be fine. |

Sit relaxed as much as you can, take long slow deep breaths, if you are sat next to the window you can pull down the little shutter or if you do look out think of it as a tv screen. To be honest I absolutley love flying and enjoy take off the best I hope you can overcome your fear and enjoy the flight.Remember to suck on some sweets or mints at take off and keep swallowing this will prevent your ears from popping from the change in air pressure as the plane is climbing. My husband was apprehensive about flying when we went on holiday .....he loved it, hope you do too. |

Oh don't worry, honestly its fine, I'm terrified of heights to but honestly been on a plane doesn't have the same effect at all, by the time you've settled yourself into your seat and listened to the cabin crew then had a nosey round at who else is on the plane you will be up in the air and not have realised, it took me 48 years to pluck up the courage to go on a plane and I so wish I had done it earlier, still I'm making up for lost time and hope you will do the same after your first flight, have a lovely holiday. |

Don't even worry. The first times flying is always exciting and nervousraking for most people. Just stay calm, and go along with whatever moves the plane takes. |

Bring a CD player and your favourite music CD (or your mp3 player), suck on sucky sweets (barley sugar ones are the best) and just keep your eyes closed. Ask the crew to give you some water and drink that and read the inflight magazine - in short keep yourself distracted and dont get a window seat. The take-off is not that bad.
Alternatively you could look at taking some valium before the flight? |

Like you I am afraid of heights but flying doesn't bother me. In a plane you don't get the same sensation as being on a high building. Take off and landing can be very interesting if you try and let yourself enjoy it. Try to relax and I promise that you will want to do it again and wonder why it bothered you so much. |

just relax, i was sooooo nervous my first time flying, i am afraid of heights myself, but once you get on the plane youll be fine honest!!
try not to get a window seat, take off and landing is actually fun, kind of like a rollercoster |

Don't think about it. I get vertigo but I'm fine in a plane because the view from the window is just like a picture, it doesn't look real. Read a good book to take your mind off it and concentrate on the scene inside until you are well under way. |
