refer to british aviation authority's website and it should clue you up. a few quick ones though are that you cannot take a handbag on board - it will have to be checked in as luggage if you do.
you can take very simple things withoutany sharp points,also bestto avoid any metal items.

not much i am sorry to say you will be allowed any medication you need and passport but i would advise putting everything else in you normal luggage
