sorry about your friend. are you talking about a commercial passenger plane or a private small plane? a commercial plane will have flight attendants trained for such emergencies, also pay attention to all the flight safety speech they give.

chances of this happening are slim.
But if it does happen, flight attendants will do whatever possible to keep passengers safe. Follow their directions and hope for the best. Most likely the plane would try to land so that passengers can exit safely and avoid a crash. I understand how your friend's experience can make you extremely scared, but try not to freak out about it too much. Like I said, the chances are very slim of this happening to you. If you need to fly, trying asking your doctor for some anxiety medication that will help calm you during the flight.

well...planes usually carry their fuel in the wings and fuel and fire don't mix well.

There isn't much you can do. If you see it, let one of the cabin crew know so they can tell the pilots. Other than that, listen to what the pilots and cabin crew tell you, if they ask you to do something, do it, and above all, stay calm. There is nothing that panicking will do for you or for those that are of the crew other than to raise their already high stress levels.

The best thing to do is to stay seated and wait for the flight attendents voice if the flight attendent dose not know then call for her and tell her to inform the captin... thats what i would do!! dont worry they know what to do!

I think you shoukd stop thinking about that kinda of stuff. Negative stuff like that will stop you from doing stuff in your life.

But if it did happen to me and i saw it, i would scream to let the flight attendent know. Hopefully the pilots will be able to land the plane safely.

u gotto listen wot da pilot say. he wil say to put on parasute and jump off and u gotto do dat. if he say 'calm down ppl we all going to be alrite......just pray god' then u gotto git him over da head and get da jacket off him and just jump off da flight after (sharply) an hour there will be ppl to rescue u _------- im sure about that!
