Actually it depends on which airlines you fly with. Some are really terrible but some are good. For me overall airline food is good not great.

I always get to the airport and eat there before boarding. That way you can still relax and take a walk before sitting for all those hours. Obviously on long flights you have to eat one meal which is always yukky.

Did you know that they weigh the food so that everyone gets the same size bit of chicken etc. Stops people from saying he got more than me bla bla bla. Air rage over food is just stupid.

Matty
If you've had a 14 hour flight it can start to smell pretty decent come hour 10

My cat Jake owns me
One of the best meals I“ve ever had was on Air India. It was some kind of chicken in a curry sauce with a carrot dessert that slapped my tongue silly.

I like the airline food, and realize if I don“t like it I can always ask for more peanuts:)

Never bother with airline food. My partner and me always take a bag of home made sandwiches. Maybe we're old fashioned. It just makes sense if you're going on a long trip by air, sea or train, to take along enough food for the journey.

i quite like the food. ive had worse stuff then that

Most of the times, it is pretty good in business or first class....
In coach, if you fly internationally, it is also quite decent....Some airlines are better than others. I particularly like the BA, KLM, Lufthansa coach meals ...

BillyB8
It's all pretty dire, those that stand out are Singapore airlines, Air India, heading to the US, return was cr+p. And Canadian affair.

depends which airline you fly with, personally i only fly with Qantas and i find the food and service excellent

laplandfan
I have heard most moan about it but i have to say most meals I've had on flights have been nice. I especially liked the meals on Qantas flights to Australia!

Also meals on flight to Finland were also especially nice.

Mimkat
I've eaten worse & I've eaten better. I normally eat before I fly but I rarely fly for longer than 4 hours so I'm not really fussed about airline food. But I can understand why you'd want something decent on a long flight.

Tommy H
I fly quite often, and sometimes the food is pretty tasty, and if it isn't, I figure I am not flying because of the food, you can always pack some snacks in case you don't like what they are serving.

sully
I dont mind the food. It breaks up the long flights but some of it it horrible though.

ronald575715
do people realise that you are not able to take liquids through hand luggage checks so you have to pay very extortiant prices when you buy in the airport like one pound sixty for a small bottle of fanta and three and half quid for a sandwich or seven pounds for a small breakfast or nearly three quid for a pint of beer.so it makes on flight food not so bad.......what a bloody rip off

Extreme Edgehead (nWo)
i've flown with SQ and the food was good

Yuk! The only time I remember having good airline food (in coach) was in 1996 on a Cathay Pacific flight from UK to Hong Kong. First class food can sometimes be good.

JL
If I'm hungry, it'll do. Better to eat the little cake or something rather than sit and try to outlast a long flight.

silentnonrev
here in US it's really ironic that people always complained about airline food, but then were horrified when the airlines took it away!

IMO it's fine for what it's supposed to be, a way to keep the wolf from the door....unless you are in Business or First on an airline that puts some effort into it (Lufthansa, JAL, BA) in which case it can be positively pleasant.

One of the worst airline meals I had was in First on Northwest (Northworst!)....some kinda "steak" that was as tough as a shoe. However, have had even good economy meals on Thai, Lufthansa...

kudos to Continental for still serving at least a sandwich at mealtimes!

David W
It really depends on the airline. Some of the US based airlines have cut way back on food recently and its terrible. Others, like Lufthansa and KLM have really improved theirs. Air France has decent food too, just everything else on their airline is poor. Emirates has always been pretty good. I haven't flown Singapore Airlines or Virgin, but they have good reputations

dot&carryone.
It fills the gap.

geedee
sometimes i like it and sometimes i don't. it depends on the airline i go on.
one time many years ago i went overseas, the breakfast was really nice. we got a bread roll, crackers, cheese (soft cheese, i don't remember which one), butter, fruit, juice and some other stuff i think.
lunches are ok. quality varies depending on the airline.
but i really can't stand aeroplane dinners. i don't know why.

lexo80
I flew to Australia and back on Singapore Airlines and the food was better than I've had in some Irish restaurants. I remember being served smoked chicken for breakfast, somewhere over Indonesia...mmmm.

Annie M
I have liked most of the airline food. I don't like the salted nuts though.

allbilly
In response to ronald575715 you can take liquids on board providing they were purchased in the security zone. Failure to allow these on board and the charging for water could be illegal.

It OK, I guess, not too good but thing about the fact its not a restaurant with full kitchen they do OK with it.

Riko
the foods not actually bad on most flights. its not poor quality and i always think the smell is nice.

Terrible! Especially when the prick in front of you nabs the last thing that was half worth eating.

Just me!
ohh i really dont like it
i had a bad experience flying from aust to usa
they served fish
bleeeeeekkkkkkk never again

[s]moonbunny
Depends on what's being served. Some of them isn't so bad. When I fly in Cathay Pacific, I actually find their food delictable. I don't like airline food that's made out of subsandwiches....that's kind of nasty, in my opinion.

i think it has improved no end! was horrible now ok, so it should be though as have to pay £10 per person
