I've travelled alone from Texas to California before when i was 11 years old. I remember only needing a ticket, an ID (passport will do) and the contact number of the person you will stay in California. Probably some cash. That's about it.

A pilots licsense would be good or at least a couple hours training on a good flight simulator. Good luck what kind of plane do you have?

Natalia The Czarina
The flight from Texas to California won't be too long, just bring some music and a book. The plane should have a TV of some sort....

A plane ticket, a seat, your id just in case, directions on how to get from each plane if you have to switch planes, a carry-on bag if you like, your cell phone if ya need and thats pretty much it for on the plane. And then a suitcase for what you might need in California

Anyone who is telling you that you need a photo ID to fly is wrong. The TSA does not require passengers to have government-issued photo ID if they are under 18. (Of course, it's going to be easier for you if you do have one, but they're not going to tell you that you can't fly if you don't have one.)

A ticket. Yea, a ticket is always a good thing to have when you wanna fly on a plane.....

I say, a ticket.

Just a photo ID and a ticket. Once you are over 15 you are no longer considered an unaccompanied minor when traveling in the U.S. I would advise not taking the last flight of the day. At your age you don't want to deal with an overnight stay in an airport if the flight is delayed or canceled. Book in the early morning so that if anything comes up they will have plenty of time to re-book you on another flight.
Don't worry. My step-children ( who are now 17 and 19)have been flying alone across the country 3 times a year or more since they were 10 and 12. No major problems so far.
Have fun!

i think you need parents' permission. you should go to the airline of your choices' website, and look over the rules and regulations. i'm sure you'll find your answer there.

17 is a legal adult in TX. All you need to do is buy a ticket and go through the thoroughly ridiculous security checkpoints.

Personal id , emergency contact info and traveling $$ incase there are delays. Other then that just his personal belongings.

The TSA requires that passengers present a valid (not expired) government-issued photo ID during the security check. The ID needs to have their full name and date of birth. Note that school IDs are not accepted, even if they are issued by a public school system - which is a government agency. Go to www.tsa.gov for more information.

The airline will also require the ID at check in.

Apart from that, they only need a ticket.

A plane ticket.

sonde laton
He will need all the appropriate documentation and the Flight Attendants must know that he is traveling alone. They're not going to hold his hand or anything but since he is still an unaccompanied minor the airline must know. If he were a very young minor he would probably be held in the plane and would deboard at the end, when an attendant can walk him or her to the arriving gate where someone with identification would claim the child.

j
just a passport, and whatever else you want to take.
